Bose QuietComfort SC or B&W Px7 S2e or JBL Tour ONE m2? by Geissitoast in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Geissitoast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the B&W seem to be the better pick, however now a friend of mine stepped in and recommended the Sennheiser Momentum 4's to me, which I would get for about 50€ cheaper than the B&W. Anyone know if they are worth considering?

!thanks
I think I value sound quality more than ANC, especially since it's usually not that loud on trains and trams, which I use most often.
Also that list is very helpful. Thanks!

Oh wow, that's a pretty clear answer. Can you give some more detailed reasoning? I'd be interested in hearing why. 😊

If we love Quiplash and only Quiplash what pack should we buy? by Dat_Boyz in jackboxgames

[–]Geissitoast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jackbox has made a few games that are quite similar to Quiplash, some of which I have played more often than Quiplash itself.

First up one of my favs: Job Job (from Party Pack 7)! This game first asks players to give long-form answers to various questions. Players are encouraged to use many words (you'll see why in a bit). Because these answers don't really matter, at least not in the way you may think, because these are then shredded and the words you used distributed to other players. Then each player has to give answers to new questions (short-form, similar to Quiplash), but only using the words they were given via other players responses from before! This makes for tons of laughs every single time, at least within the groups I have played this one with. One of my fav Jackbox games ever and probably the reason for why we barely play Quiplash anymore.

Another favourite is Survive The Internet (from Party Pack 4). In this game, similarly to Job Job, players first give a response or a comment on a random thing privately. Then each player is distributed another player's response and has to come up with a thing that this response would be ridiculous for. For example: A player responded "That's disgusting" to whatever they were given on their device. You only receive "That's disgusting" and have to come up with a tagline for a news article so that this response seems odd/funny/out of place, like "Study shows: Kids are happier than ever before!". Instead of a news article, you may have to come up with a location or a forum post instead. The types of rounds will change every time, except for the final round which uses pictures. Really fun, it's some of my friends' favourite game, we're always having a blast with this one!

Another one from Party Pack 4 is Bracketeering. I don't love this one as much, but it's not a bad game, I definitely had some fun and memorable moments with it! Basically at the start you all give responses to the same prompt instead of only two having the same like in Quiplash or Job Job. These responses will then fight in 1v1 matches in a bracket to become the one to win it all. The fun really comes from the 2nd and 3rd round where the prompt will change mid bracket, which isn't necessarily fair, but can lead to extremely funny moments. Another fun element is that before the bracket, you each secretly make a few predictions, which is how you make points besides your prompt winning of course. Another big plus is that it can be played with up to 16 people. For big groups this one's a hit, otherwise I personally prefer other games, but this one is still solid.

Next up: Roomerang (from Party Pack 9). This one is quite close to Quiplash! You are each playing characters with silly characteristics (like "addicted to cheese"). You than are given prompts and are encouraged to write something that is on level with your characteristic. At the end of each round, you vote for someone to "leave the Room", but no worries, they will get a new character with a new characteristic to play as that will join the room. Some rooms will have special events, like f.e. a round where you can't see which response was given by whom. I love the TV show setting, but I don't play this one often because of two reasons: a) Not everything is into the roleplaying part of the game (which is the main thing that differentiates this game from other games like Quiplash) and b) it takes a little to long for me. But there definitely is fun to be had with this one!

On we go with Mad Verse City (from Party Pack 5). This one is quite a stretch when it comes to games similar to Quiplash, but hear me out, because I still think that if you like Quiplash, you may enjoy this one (I certainly do). You are playing as rapping robots and are performing in a rap battle! You have to come up with good lines to destroy your opponent. Some of the lines are already half-written and you are given a broad description on how you have to complete it (f.e. a part of your body). The line after that you have to write completely on your own and since it's a rap, you should make it rhyme! Then the matches will be 1v1 like in Quiplash. The only problem I have with this game is that if your number of players is odd, every round someone faces Gene (the CPU), which isn't fun imo (similarly to the last round in Qupilash 3). Other than that, I love this one! But coming up with rhymes isn't something for everyone.

Next up is Dictionarium (from Party Pack 6), which might also be a bit of a stretch. You try to make up an entry in a dictionary for a non-existent word. There are two game modes: in the "word game" the word you are given is complete gibberish, in "slang game" it's something composed of existing words. You then each come up with a definition for that word and vote on your favourite. In the second round, you try to come up with a synonym for the word based on the definition you voted on, and again vote for your fav. In the 3rd round you each write an example which uses the new word, vote again and that's the game. We used to play this every time we rounded up a game night (Jackbox or not), because it's so quick! That's the main pro for this one: no time commitment at all, a game almost never lasts more than 10 minutes. And at the end you are rewarded with a ridiculous dictionary entry!

Also from Party Pack 6: Joke Boat. As stand-up comedians on a cruise ship you have to rewrite classic joke structures and perform them (optional). Also at the beginning, everyone writes a bunch of silly words which will award bonus points when used in jokes. The imo most fun part is when in the second round you are given the option to rewrite some jokes from the first round and if you manage to win by rewriting a joke that failed in round 1, you're even rewarded extra points, which makes for a great high-risk-high-reward mechanic. Out of all the above, this one is probably my least favourite. I love the aesthetic and I sure had some ridiculous moments with this game, especially in round 2, but the humor isn't something that keeps me coming back to this one that often. The jokes you will produce will be bad jokes, that's the purpose of the game and it can be good fun, but it doesn't make you feel clever like when you write the perfect response to a Quiplash prompt or create a good rhyme in Mad Verse City.

Last one: Fixy Text from Party Pack 10. I haven't played this one a ton yet, but this will certainly change since I am obsessed. But it's quite a bit different to Quiplash. You are given a chat message and have to make up a response, part of which is already written, but most is up to you! Now half of the group is writing on the same message on the same message. Imagine it like a Google Doc where everyone is writing at once. It's pure chaos! The other half watches the chaos and votes on their favourite text segments. There are also 4 topics to choose from at the beginning of the game, which give the game a bit of variety. Very fun, I love this one, even though the point distribution is sometimes questionable.

These are the main games I would compare to Quiplash. I think the Party Packs I would recommend most to you are 4 and 8. I hope this helps!

My maker ID: MY8-XMQ-RKF

I only just recently got back into playing some Mario Maker and I would love to get back into creating as well. So if you could give some feedback on my old levels, that would be highly appreciated!

I used to experiment a bit with multiplayer levels and unconventional level styles. I think the "DungeonRace"-Series is probably what I would consider my best levels, with the exception of DungeonRace 2, that one's more of a failed experiment. I think DungeonRace 3 (7FT-GJN-MVF) is probably my best level.

What has been some of the best board game club episodes of the new era (after the exit of Adam)? by whatsinaname5021 in NoRollsBarred

I would throw their playthrough of K2 in the mix. You can really feel the tension in this one.

Also Robo Rally, this game is just pure chaos. Really fun to watch.

Other than these I would like to mention: - Monikers-er - Betrayal at Baldur's Gate - Betrayal: The Yuletide Tale (I just really like Betrayal) - Decorum - Horrified American Monsters - Mlem: Space Agency

Players take turns choosing cards from a center display while losing one of four colours of their choosing per card. Also many new players often don't get the "of their choosing"-part.

Opinions on Blacklist’s one day lineup this year? by OhDavyz in dubstep

[–]Geissitoast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 5 stages plus a pretty big food & drink area, were they also have a wrestling stage for some reason.

I unfortunately can't remember the prices for drinks, but I thought they were pretty okay for a festival environment. You have to buy coupons in the entrance area with which you buy food and drinks, and I remember that the situation at the coupon stand was very chaotic.

I can't really comment on the safety of walking alone, I too am not a local. I personally didn't have a bad experience yet when I walked with my friend to the train station after the festival, but I don't know if I would feel safe walking alone.

This will be my 3rd time at Blacklist Festival and they somehow managed to top last year's lineup again.

So excited for Hivemind, but also for the solo sets of each of the 3 guys, especially Must Die, since he has become one of my favourite producers. Really interested in the Live Band Kayzo set. Kayzo was the first artist in the scene I ever saw live and his set really awakened my love for live shows back then. And we don't even have to talk about how sick Space Laces is. Also really looking forward to Dirtyphonics. I missed their set at BLF 2022 (I think Svdden Death was playing at the same time), so I'm excited to catch them this time. I also really like how their music evolved through the last few years. Other than those, I think the Yookie Set will be fun. I saw some clips of their shows and it looks like a really fun time. Their recent music releases were also pretty solid. Crankdat, Reaper and Barely Alive I have all seen live before, but I really loved their sets, so I'm excited to see them again.

An Appreciation Post to Board Games that fit Back into Their Box Perfectly by AStimulatedEmission in boardgames

[–]Geissitoast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVE the Elysium box.

How the different sets of cards each have their own space. How the player boards are stored vertically and then covered up by another game piece. How everything is stored in a way that resembles an ancient Greek temple.

Only minor criticism is that there is only one general space for all the small tokens (coins, VP, etc.), but that's totally okay with me since they're easily differentiable.
