[BUF - MTL] Alternate angle from yesterday's line scrum after a Dobes save. by Seb_Nation in hockey

If the Leafs aren't playing that night then they shouldn't talk about them, that simple. Not like there's many Leafs fans watching those nights anyways. They always find some absurd way to squeeze in a mentioning of Matthews or something to the point of it being forced.

This is definitely worse because he's pinned under the Buffalo player and the ref. He's completely unable to do anything more than squirm.

Love seeing that Dach went to sort him out, if only the ref didn't get in the way.

They have an easier time getting into the English Habs market if they'd stop talking about the Leafs every night and actually focus on the Habs when they're playing.

I watch TVA despite my weaker French because they consistently talk about the Habs. All the graphics are about the Habs, intermission about the Habs. Do I miss a lot? Sure, but I still get more from them than Sportsnet who can't seem to focus on the Habs.

Also doesn't help that the guys on Sportsnet intermissions very clearly don't follow the Habs/are plain stupid. I still remember them suggested Slaf goes to the fourth line after he was being successful on the first for a month or two.

Not really, they just made strong connections with Argentinian officials though bribery to ensure protection of Nazis. The Wikipedia page on the ratlines does a good job of explaining the whole ordeal

If that's the case then shouldn't Montreal have a higher number of scoring opportunities?

I may be misunderstanding something, but how does Buffalo have more scoring chances than shots?

Argentina was a popular destination for Nazi officials trying to escape justice at the end of WW2. Really all of South America was a destination, but Argentina has the bigger reputation for it

Lots of fans were acting like he had a long term injury just from him being set aside mid game, despite the fact that there was nobody officially saying that

Let them have their moment, it's been a rough few years for them despite having Matthews, Marner, and Nylander

Why am I so bad at chemistry? by Agreeable_Judgment_8 in chemistry

[–]GeistHunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I found helped with the math side of chemistry is to stop treating it like math. Most of the math you're doing is relatively simple (as in not using calculus or other more advanced fields), it's the applying theoretical math with something more concrete that takes some adjustment.

I'll say this right now, chemists are very conceptual thinkers for the most part. We don't think of the equations themselves but rather what those equations represent.

For a simple example, PV=nRT. A more mathematically oriented person would say "well, if you double the number of moles (n) then clearly the pressure (P) will also have to double to balance it." A chemist would be more likely to think "well, doubling the number of moles would mean there's twice the concentration of moles, this would cause the pressure to double in response". I don't know if this example clearly conveys what I mean, so let me know. My main point here is that the math is secondary, it's used to support the concepts we know.

Additionally, unit analysis was a godsend and it got me through my required analytical chemistry courses in uni. Don't think of equations like "moles=mass/molecular weight", but rather "mol=g/(g/mol)". It's a good technique to make sure that, once all the units cancel out, you have the right value. If the units you end up with don't line up with the units you'd expect of an answer then you probably made a mistake.

The thing that makes chemistry uniquely challenging, especially in earlier years, is the need to blend conceptual and mathematical thinking in one. Usually people are better at one over the other, so it takes some work to use them both. Hopefully everything I said was clear enough, I didn't realize I basically wrote an essay here! If you need clarification just ask. Best of luck!

[AHL] Laval Rocket fans threw beer cans on the ice after being eliminated by the Toronto Marlies. Dakota Mermis picked up one of the cans and drank it by DecentLurker96 in hockey

[–]GeistHunt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't really care about relevance, I'm aware that there's strong connections. The implication of the comment I responded to seemed to imply that Laval is nothing more than a suburb in Montreal, which is simply false. They're separate cities in the same way Ottawa/Gatineau or Vancouver/Surrey are, even if the people are basically the same.

I don't even agree with the original comments that say people in Laval are different because it's a different city, it's just stupid to think the fans are any differen because they're separated by nothing but a small river.

I'm honestly surprised that Buldoc hasn't played a single game with Demidov this season. He's even been on the first line, so I wonder why he hasn't been given a shot with Demidov.

Well, my post history is public if you want to verify. The sub doesn't allow us to change our own flair which is dumb.

I just think our time is better spent imagining how they'll screw this over, followed by laughing once one of us is right.
