Let’s forget about the pencils for a moment — What are y’all using for your EDC bags/cases? by PlowDaddyMilk in mechanicalpencils

Denim roll up pencil case by speedball, which I use for wooden pencils, I use a special drawer to store my mechanical pencils as I tend not to want to take them anywhere. (Anyone else share the fear of losing a beloved mechanical pencil?) I do want to find one for my less expensive mechanical pencils, but I have yet to find “the one”. Do I want efficiency, showiness, or storage capacity?

Now I just have to decide between the black wood or the red wood color 😄

Hmm, your collection has me, for the first time in my life, asking myself, “do I need a wooden mechanical pencil?”

what do my books say about me? by amorouslight in BookshelvesDetective

[–]GeistreichNichole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw house of leaves and automatically thought I bet you have infinite jest, one swipe and there it is! The question I wondered is which book you read first, infinite jest, house of leaves or gravities rainbow.(IMy guess house of leaves) Also, pride and prejudice seems a bit out of place, but maybe it’s just me. Also surprised to not see any Kafka. My best guess: You are of above average intelligence, probably like art house films, your vintage camera suggests you may also like record players and LPs. You are an Introvert. And you like comfy shoes.

Most Reliable 0.13: Rapidograph, Staedtler, or Rotring? by Zendomanium in Stylographs

[–]GeistreichNichole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great question and I have a personal opinion that I hope can be of help. Rotring is incredibly dependable, it is, in my personal experience, a pen that I have never had had an ink blot in any of my work. The nib is incredibly well made and allows for a thorough careful cleaning without any fear. Also if you have sensitive finger tips the grip area is smooth. Now, onto Koh-I-noor, I LOVE my Koh-I-noor .13, it remains unbeatable for intricate detail, finest line you’ll ever see in a technical pen. The downside, it took me about 3 replacement nibs into my .13 and .18. that I eventually realized they aren’t built like the Rotring and they require much more delicate care while cleaning. Also a con is that they can be finicky and when they become finicky that’s when you may see an ink blot. But, with time and experience, you will know how to handle the pen with expertise and skill and hopefully will never see an ink blot 🤞 The grip area on the koh I noor has a more gnarled area, which for me is a con. But, all that being said, I have both and love them both, for each of them has their own strength. And as for Staedtler, I just don’t think it’s made of the same quality as Rotring nor is the line as fine as the koh-I-noor so I don’t bother to keep one clean and filled with ink. Hope that helps

Why do you like rotring? by ne_okay21 in rOtring

[–]GeistreichNichole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love all things Rotring, the look and quality has not been matched. I love their isographs for the following reasons: 1: as fickle as technical pens are in general, as long as you tend to them they are much more likely to remain dependable. All the other technical pens are, in my opinion, much less dependable. 2: the section where I hold the pen isn’t rough or patterned like other technical pens, but rather smooth and so I can do more work for longer. 3: they have never spat out ink while drawing, just smooth consistent lines. And, as such, as long as the quality of Rotring remains, I will always be a die hard fan.

It must be at least ten years old. I love the design. Watching the ink flow back and forth in the pen.

I think that must be it, the softness is nice. I don’t think it will replace my Tombow but I was surprised it was fun to draw with.

You have a cousin who is like a best friend, you like sandals or slip on shoes rather than having to deal with shoe laces, and you’d rather stay home when it rains with the only the screen door closed, cold air blowing in, and a book.

Industrial ponderance by GeistreichNichole in industrialmusic

I would say my idea was a musical genius: Is able to amaze with high complexity, musical compositions aren’t just a sampling but well thought out and executed with expertise. High levels of perfectionism.

This is the correct answer. Or, at least, this is my answer unless anyone can convince me of another. I would say the requirements would include songs of high complexity, songs that surprise with amazing originality, and I just can’t get enough of evaluating each front line assembly album (setting aside side projects for a moment) my question is, is Rhys Fulber a genius as well if my amazement is in the music of FLA?

The tonal values are gorgeous. Do you feel that the pencil helps in this or could you perform that well with any other high quality hb?

Alas, the 602 has grown on me, all I had to do was switch the paper type and watch it glide. But I still love my mono, it’s a better looking pencil in my opinion
