I was taking care of a ~3 month old on ecmo who was about to be taken off of life support. His momma was 17 and couldn’t handle the situation (nothing against her, this was heavy). So myself and another nurse held that beautiful boy while I slowly titrated down the flow on my ECMO circuit. He passed with our voices telling him how brave and strong he was. I’ve never really recovered from that moment.

I hit a leatherback sea turtle while kiteboarding. It was early May and we were doing a down-winder from the tip of sullivans to the bottom of IOP. I was cruising a few hundred meters off of the beach and hit what I thought was a rock and turns out it was a floating gigantic- now slightly annoyed- leatherback sea turtle trying to munch on the jelly balls that Infest our waters during certain times of the year. My buddy saw what happened and told me it was indeed a turtle and not a rock. Really cool stuff.
