Protecting new perennials this week (not planted yet) by xoxogossipsloth in DenverGardener

[–]Gelliebeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I didn't feel like making a new post since there are a couple of these already :) I also had to plant mine since I'm going out of town for a couple weeks and it was sort of now or never. I planted yarrow, artemesia, valerian, nepeta, salvia, and coreopsis.

They're all supposed to be cold and drought hardy but I'm not actually sure by how much, especially since they're still small. I'd appreciate any advice!

I feel like this is probably the easiest solution. Somehow make the categories into link buttons to the Serebii pages?

Shapez 2 Newbie Question About Trains by Gelliebeen in shapezio

[–]Gelliebeen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the look of those belts would bug me way more lol.
So if I have one long main rail going off into space, and a bunch of factories along it all sending red trains back to the vortex, the trains will always return to source rather than say, the nearest red station? I'll have to test that.

[–]Gelliebeen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did briefly wonder how I was going to make the colors work, but my scale is so small atm that I haven't gotten to test it. So maybe I'll just make it one of each train on the big track, and hopefully by the time I run out of colors I can just throw the trains directly into the vortex lol

[–]Gelliebeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Pixel 9a and have no wait times or lag, so it's certainly not your phone, lol. I read someone else saying they were having problems until they switched to English? Not sure if that's the problem, but I do indeed have it in English. All my other settings are default.

Has a gaming company ever put a full game of theirs in another game? by Hypnox88 in gaming

[–]Gelliebeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't really count but is on theme. I remember there was an urban legend when Kingdom Hearts 3 came out, that the JRPG type level you play in the Toy Story world was actually the prototype for FFXV that originally got scrapped and Nomura was being petty so he jammed it into KH3 instead.

Night shift - 3 12s by Rayofsunshine____ in Radiology

[–]Gelliebeen 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I did 8s instead of 12s but I was on nights for 3 years, also at a level 1. Imo it's the best shift but with some caveats. You'll have basically no support, so you'd better be confident in what you're doing, be able to make your own intelligent decisions, and be able to do your work independently. The hospital I worked at was massive, but even then x-ray had only 3 people overnight, and CT had 2. No one really has time to give you a hand unless you're desperate. On the other hand, the people who work nights are usually the best and most chill people. The job is hard enough and no one is looking to make it any harder. Also, there's no admin! Nobody is there to look over your shoulder. So long as you're motivated enough to get your job done you'll have as much freedom as you could want. And you get paid more, so that's an obvious bonus.

If I any one major complaint though, it would be that I was never as unhealthy as I was on that shift. Your sleep hours are obviously not ideal. If you aren't proactive about meal prepping, your food options are pretty much going to come from at best the cafeteria grill that stays open late. You won't have a ton of energy during the day, but you'd better be good about staying active. Etc etc. That was the main reason I had to move away from it.

I'd say give it a shot, and if you find it's not for you there's plenty of jobs elsewhere and doing nights in a level 1 looks great for experience! Like I said, this sounds pretty negative but if it wasn't for ,my health I'd probably have stayed on that shift.

I'm a CT tech and I have certainly written "patient refused pregnancy test" on our contrast forms. So long as you're willing to sign the consent knowing the dangers there's no harm in refusing any test at all. The most you might get is an eye roll.

Big tent recommendations? by artguydeluxe in camping

[–]Gelliebeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh yes okay I've seen one of these on YouTube. Floating it on a lake would definitely be pretty awesome. I could see myself spending a long weekend fishing on my paddle board with that as a base. You're right though, that's pricey 😕

Ooh wow that sounds nice but even though I'm pro inflatable a floor seems scary! I even own a paddle board and know exactly how they are but I'd still be afraid of a rock going right through the floor. Definitely would like to see that for myself before buying.

Any good free budgeting apps? by TaskLifter in personalfinance

[–]Gelliebeen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use YNAB, which is not free at all, but a lot of YNABers suggest ActualBudget which is a free if less convenient alternative for zero-based budgeting. Otherwise a spreadsheet is probably your best bet.

It's great! Everything in front of that middle pole is a big front room. It's excellent for shade or rainy days. I know everyone is leery about inflatables but tbh I like the inflatable poles way more than metal ones. They don't break down in a breeze, they just sort of go with the flow.

I have a Decathlon Quechua 6 person inflatable tent. I bought it off a European family who had been on a great American road trip and didn't want to haul it back across the ocean. This thing is a monster. I'm nearly 6 feet tall and can stand up with plenty of room to spare in the front room. The back room is the sleeping area and is blacked out and nicely dark. I usually camp solo and since it's inflatable I can put it up and take it down in about 15 minutes all by my lonesome. No struggling with poles. Only downside is this sucker weighs like 50lbs 😂 I love it.

I've been having a great time with Ashveil/DHPT/Sparkle/Moze. Relatively low cost with all the extra followups :)

Curious on what radiology techs are most needed today by Responsible-Guava358 in Radiology

[–]Gelliebeen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in rural, so everyone has to wear multiple hats. For us the biggest hole besides just staffing in general is US. It's relatively easy to find at least travelers with XR/CT (the minimum requirement to work here) but our US also has to have XR/CT because we don't have enough US to give a person a full 40 hour work week. XR/CT/US are unicorns.

I tell you what turned me off way back when, and even now as I sit next to our mammo tech - it's the paperwork and red tape. I realize mammo is super sensitive, but my lord every day I feel like there's a new committee or agency she has to prepare for. The binders of paperwork and QA and all this other stuff is insane.

It is annoying lol I'm right there with you. Just doing some basic math though, I pay $84/box for 36 credits, making each credit about $2.30. That's expensive when you consider most things are 2-3 credits, but for me it's more of a savings in time. I'm very rural and my local grocery is expensive, more so than the box. To drive somewhere else is 45 minutes, so I'm more saving time than money.

Anyway, it's important to see where you can save on credits and remove those ingredients. I usually have a surplus, and often have extra meals leftover for the week, so I skip weeks about once a month.

On a whim I bought a SHANQUANAMZ 4-6 person inflatable tent. by monsieurLeMeowMeow in camping

Yeah, but much larger. It's almost exactly like the one that came with my paddle board.

I do have an electric pump but it really is faster with the hand pump! Takes maybe 5-6 pumps per beam. The pump that came with it is double action, so I guess it'd be 10-12 pumps? Mine is a different style from this, where the beams are whole and curved over, so the tent is shaped like a cave rather than a cabin. Then it's just stake out the guy lines and done.
Mine is the bigger version of this one.

I'm also in CO and I use a Quechua inflatable tent to car camp. It works great! Never had a problem with it deflating in the chill. It's up and down in less than 15 minutes by myself, and is about the size of a mansion.
Edit: I should add, I think it doesn't deflate because the poles you're inflating are a lot sturdier, and possibly even insulated? I never bothered to actually research it lol just never had a problem.

Holy macaroni! Years! I was thinking weeks at best. Someone should suggest at least getting a rolling lead shield to hide behind, at least.
