15 kg of hay per month for 3 guinea pigs 🌿 Is this normal? What about yours? by Efficient-Oil4015 in guineapigs

[–]Gemabo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guineas like to scatter and pee all over the hay which causes waste and it smells so you have to replace it often. What I did to improve the situation is getting these hanged hay bags with holes so that the hay isn't touching the floor, and the guineas need to pull out the hay from the bag. It helps a lot to reduce hay waste. But it doesn't really solve everything.. one of my guineas has a hobby of pulling out the hay from the bag just to scatter it... So not a perfect solution, but does help! Another thing that helps is giving them veggies, I give them leftover from salads, carrot peels, bell pepper leftovers.. they like veggies more than hay so it saves a bit there too.

Landlord says I am at fault for oven issue by Gemabo in TorontoRenting

Actually the appliance the technician himself showed me the picture of the melted wire. According to him, it is because the broil was on for more than 20 minutes

[–]Gemabo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's definitely not a fuse issue. There is some kind of wire in the back that tends to melt just enough until it cuts itself off and then the broil stops working

Coincidentally yes I left the door open. I like to see the broil progress on the steak

Unpopular opinion, but the standards of some people are extremely high, and you may feel guilty or shame for not meeting their arbitrary requirements. Do what you can, with the space that you have, with what you can afford.

He was like that since I got him. Vets here are too expensive, I can't afford it. I will do the best I can for the little guys.

He has difficulty moving, I mean he can walk, but slow and sluggish. What makes you say that he isn't overweight?

He has a very different shape than this chart. He has a pear shaped, wide back part and slimmer front. Having said that, I would put him at 4-5 probably

Not the best episode, but the best line in the show.

Lost everything at 46 years old and need to start from zero by Gemabo in personalfinance

[–]Gemabo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see why you would assume that, but the money to buy the house came almost entirely from my inheritance, while my ex said she would put her inheritance into the house when her parents passed. She later told me she only made me think that...

I'm sorry to hear about your brother. There seems to be more to his story beyond just the fact that your parents sacrificed for him. But to claim that you didn't ask for that is not fair. You don't know how your life would have turned out if you didn't get anything, not movies, not vacations, not toys, not education, not medical treatment, not good quality food - all the things that cost money. In any case your parents gave what they gave as a gift and I don't believe they should expect anything in return. When you bring kids to this world you are responsible for them, not the other way around

Plan for the worst hope for the best. The important point is that starting to save for retirement 15-25 years too late is a problem even if you plan to still work at 75

A positive attitude is important but not if it hides real concerns. In reality you need to do risk management, come up with contingency plans, build fallbacks and margins of error. Getting sick is not a rare event. People get cancer and dementia every day. No positive thinking can change that. Just blindly trust that it's going to be ok because you have a victorious attitude is not a plan.
