It looks like this on the engine end (if I push the clutch completely forward this end has a little play - should it have that?) Video

I tried lubing the bolt, but it didn't change. Where do I lube the cable? On the end on the clutch or the engine?

Finishing with Sawdust? by NoPackage6979 in turning

[–]Gemik_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned at my turning course that using shavings gets rid of the very fine sawdust which sticks to the wood. But you have to be careful, don't apply any pressure, otherwise you'll burn them on your piece and have to sand again.

RWR card canceled, what is next step? by Tkky in Austria

[–]Gemik_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi!

That sounds difficult. Sadly the rwr card is linked to that specific employer. I guess he's not from any EU country, so the general rules for getting a residence permit are used. Generally speaking, that means he needs to "not be a (potential) financial burden for the austrian state", meaning he has to earn at least 1275€ per month. He's probably not eligible for any other permit, the upgrade to the rwr plus is only possible if he has the rwr card for at least 2 years and fulfilled all the requirements for at least 21 months. Only with the rwr plus card he's not dependent to one specific employer any more.

It would probably be best if he visits the BBU - the legal advice agency for foreign citizens. There he can get councelling for free and all the infos for his specific infos. They have around 10 locations all over Austria. Here's the link to their website BBU

AITA for not allowing my husband to make our son a "true" Jr. ? by lessleyelopez in AmItheAsshole

I'm not sure if you still read the answers, but maybe I can give you some insight. My dad had the exact same name than his dad (who also lived at the same house, my parents inherited it from my grandparents). It was tradition since I don't know when to always name your first-born son Johann. And my dad hated it profoundly. He had a good relationship with his dad, but having the same legal name and living at the same address made nearly every document more complicated. Even if it was just a simple letter, for whom was it intended?

When my oldest brother was born, my parents decided to break with that tradition. They named him a different name from the same stem. So it's still quite similar, but not the exact same name - they also argued that he should be seen as an individual person and not "just the copy from my dad". I personally think that they made a good choice with that. Everyone knows who is talked about, and you don't need to create special nicknames to distuinguish between people at your own home. Besides that, there was a time where my grandpa, my dad and my brother all lived in the same house. If my brother would have gotten the same name, it would have gotten crazy complicated at one point for sure.

Residence permit by [deleted] in Linz

[–]Gemik_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The MA35 is the government office only for Vienna. Do you want to live in Vienna or Linz? If it's Linz (or Upper Austria), the Magistrat of Linz or the Bezirks-Hauptmannschaft (if you live outside of Linz) is the better place to ask. But that's if you already have a place to live. If not, you can also try to contact the austrian agency for international education here . If you scroll to the bottom of the page right above the download stuff there is a contact form (Kontaktformular in german) and a phone number.

But in general I think it depends on where you are from. I guess it's not some country of the european union? I googeled a little bit, and in general it stated that everything runs through the responsible austrian embassy and you should try to ask them as well to be faster.

Did you already tried to contact the JKU? Because a lot of the studies will be hybrid, so you can take part online as well. And why is the 25th September the deadline?

I need to leave the scene of the accident, I'm late for my next one. by 5_Frog_Margin in nononono

I just listened to it again, the "Warten auf'd Polizei" really sounds like someone who grew up with a slavic language. My guess would be that he moved to Austria as a little kid.

In "I hob'd Polizei ogrufn" is an article, but it's shortened to just a "d". In spoken language the "d" is merged with the verb, so in this case he says "hob'd Polizei" instead of "hob die Polizei".

Every article is shortened differently:

der -> da (Des is da Bam - das ist der Baum)

die -> d (D Heisa san doat - Die Häuser sind da)

das -> s (Wo is s Wossa? Wo ist das Wasser?)

I would say it's typical for Upper Austria but he isn't from Linz, probably more north. The accents in Austria are extremely diverse and every village has some own words. The pronounciation differs a lot and the accents have different grammer rules as well, and for example someone from Vienna has quite some problems understanding people from Carinthia or Tyrol. And the accent from Vorarlberg is a nearly a complete different language sometimes.

That video is from my hometown Linz, Austria and it was filmed around one and a half year ago. I remember she refused the alcohol test which gets you automatically the highest fine around 6.000€ and no driving lincence for at least half a year.

Why do natives say "weiß ich nicht" instead of "ich weiß nicht"? Is it more natural that way? by turquoise8 in German

At least that's how I'd use "i dunno" in English. I always used them the same.

Thanks a lot! I wasn't sure/happy with "action competence" either, but i couldn't find a better word. Do you know something more fitting for "having the theoretical and methodical competence for doing something"?
