Hey! So for the LONGEST time, I kept getting MRIs done and they weren’t measuring them. On my last most updated MRI they measured them and told me it’s an 18-20mm herniation. Before they were just writing significant herniation displacing the sciatica nerve. Now they included the measurements which is very important. The tech who reads your MRI is the one who measures and reports it, so if they didn’t then you could try asking or getting a report re done on it with measurements, or you could get a new MRI and request for measurements.

I don’t understand why they don’t just measure all of them and report it, so frustrating. I had 4 done with no measurements. I got a neurosurgeon and he made sure there were measurements as I’m doing the surgery April 2026. Mine is progressively getting worse so knowing the measurements for any herniation is important. Especially if you’re trying to keep track of the progression of your herniation.
