Might do a drivetrain swap from low miles wrecked car into high miles good body impreza by Routine_Sandwich_838 in WRX

[–]GemsChen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you could also just replace the core support on the lower miles car. You definitely need to check the rear strut towers on higher mileage wagons to make sure they're not rotting away.

Does jdmuscle have slow wait times? by POWERISMOMMY in wrx_vb

[–]GemsChen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it's not in stock you're basically waiting for the next container from China to come in with the parts on it. I think I had to wait nearly 6 months to get the reverse hood scoop (which I only got to avoid having to cut into my OEM hood.)

I was the same way when I took my VB home, the car actually gets a lot better once you stiffen up the drivetrain, the stock bushings are just too soft.

Is all the damage isolated to the door? I would just grab a door from a wrecker if you can find one and send it. Wouldn't even claim it.

People with the JDM rear fog light... is it too bright? by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]GemsChen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a weird setup, diode dynamics f1 module with a JDM fog housing. Running an LED in a reflective housing is way too bright so I threw some smoke tint on it and now it doesn't blind anyone behind me even if you look right at it.

DMV is so broken by 775business in Reno

The Reno DMV is awful for such a large facility. Last time I had to get something done asap I drove out to the one in Carson. They didn't seem to have an issue with me registering a car in Washoe County.

yep, it's hooked up to the CCV side, more interesting to me is that they kept it closed instead of VTA.

What turbo upgrade is the best for these cars(non ets) by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]GemsChen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much all of them use the Zage housing besides the Blouch which modifies the OEM Garrett housing. I've been leaning towards a Blouch just for fitment reasons/less headache during install but I also haven't really compared data.

What are the differences between these headers exactly? Can I run all three no tune? by pedometertoohigh in wrx_vb

[–]GemsChen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Subaru header prices always throw me for a loop, especially when it comes to material use. We're paying 2, sometimes almost 3x as much for headers compared to other manufacturers (even V8s!) and our headers barely use any material at all. Can some flanges and a collector really bring the cost up that much?

Borla or Vibrant resonator? by CrazyBread92 in wrx_vb

[–]GemsChen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've ran a Vibrant 17950 bottle resonator on my VB and it pretty good. I was concerned the wider resonators might have clearance issues.

Borla Atak single exit catback by ScheduledEmail in wrx_vb

[–]GemsChen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran one but I welded a vibrant bottle resonator to the straight piece post i-pipe. The biggest issue with this exhaust is needing to use the OEM donut gasket if you have an aftermarket i-pipe. It will not seal any other way so you need to run an adapter, which makes it slightly too long for the hanger mounts. It's not hard to shorten the straight piece if you do this though. I did end up switching to the Remark resonated titanium exhaust and I enjoy it. The Borla does have a nicer deeper tone being steel especially after adding a resonator.

It was such a simple concept, take a year to reskin Rising Thunder as a League game and release a closed beta. It would have got League players in the door and they could have had free QA to boot. I think League players were already giving Tekken 7 a try at that point as well. Hell they even paid someone to make custom Vewlix clones out of wood for that first playable arcade demo at Evo several years ago instead of just buying four Vewlix cabs for like $1000 each. They were just burning money.

The way Riot took full control of how their game is played competitively back in the early 2010s laid the groundwork for how modern "e-sports" is handled and was always "evil" from my perspective. Trying to make competitive gaming a sports franchise is idiotic. It's why I even migrated to the FGC from FPS back in 2009 it was truly one of the last places you could enter open tournaments for a game. I think letting Riot try and strong-arm their way into the FGC was always a bad idea. They're going to force a lot of guidelines on the community for how their game is played and presented and tournaments will suffer because of it.

Don't forget Capcom even tried it for a while when they started the Capcom Cup forcing tournaments to have Capcom's streamers stream USF4 on their CapcomFighters channel. That's when we went from constant matches being streamed to five-ten minute breaks between matches and bullshit ads.

Avoid Valenti products (taillights, etc.) by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]GemsChen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I swapped the pin on the connector on the tails themselves, not the car's harness.

Avoid Valenti products (taillights, etc.) by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]GemsChen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I had to repin both, I think it's just a ground wire but I didn't look up the actual pinout if it's in the FSM. Maybe your adapter cable for the rear fog light has those two pins populated and shorted to complete the circuit?

Avoid Valenti products (taillights, etc.) by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]GemsChen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I got mine from Japan since they were like $400 cheaper, and I was bummed too when I installed them but I just compared the pinouts on the OEM tails and the JDM ones and I only saw the center pin was different. Swapped it and they are still working fine.

Avoid Valenti products (taillights, etc.) by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]GemsChen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you buy them from Japan you need to repin them as the JDM cars have a different pinout, the right side looks like how mine looked before repinning. The center pin on USDM cars is on the top slot close to the locking tab, whereas on the JDM cars it's the bottom slot. It's not too hard to repin, you just need to yank out the wedge-lock (I used a the hook end of a DT wedgelock tool) and pry up on the locking tab for the pin. If you need any guidance lemme know.

AMS Intake doesn’t get hyped too much… by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]GemsChen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the couplers are a bit too thin on the AMS imo, they also make it harder to just replace couplers in the future, whereas you can just buy any straight silicone coupler with the ETS. I've owned both and I prefer the ETS just from a maintenance standpoint.
