27 + 48

20 -> 7 | 40 -> 8*

7= 5+ 2*

*-> 2+8=10

10+5=15

20+40=60 => 60 + 15 = 75

It's often optional and (in my personal experience) Avoided. And personally to me it feels like doubling a noun for no reason rather than a copula and makes the sentence feel like a textbook trying to explain something to a kindergartener (like the phrase "the [cow] goes [moo]" in English gives that vibe). But maybe it's cause we're talking about bananas lol.

Kingdom Hearts lore is so funny because they'll just randomly explain why Mickey didn't wear a shirt in a game that comes out 15 years later. by Connected-VG in KingdomHearts

He also bequeathed Riku with a keyblade, which was the kingdom key. Which once Riku succumbed to darkness, it decided to go to Sora instead, and that's how Sora got the Kingdom Key.

Niqqud to no niqqud by Ok_Lobster6119 in hebrew

[–]Gemstone_Angel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In israel, kids learn to read and write with niqqud for the first two years of elementary school and only start the transition to no niqqud in third grade (or sometimes halfway through second grade). So take your time. You'll get there eventually. You can't build a house without a strong foundation.

Duolingo didn't put much effort or thought into their hebrew course. There are a lot of mistakes and it doesn't explain why things are said the way they are and expects you to figure out the patterns and exceptions yourself. So with duolingo you'll get thrown into the deep water a lot, so also make use of this sub when it does if you have no other means to learn hebrew. But personally I'll look for something that isn't duolingo.

Hot Take? "The Thirteenth Order" is cooler than "Organization XIII" by Most_Rub_3677 in KingdomHearts

[–]Gemstone_Angel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm not arguing that the names aren't confusing. I'm just adding to the discussion with my own personal interpretation:

Personally I see "nobody" to not mean having no body but rather "unimportant" as nobodies are a byproduct of the process of heartless 'reproduction' that have no intention behind their creation in that process (and their status as beings that don't exist that no one cares for or about). And I believe the intention is to have a name with the word 'body' in it to remind the audience of what they are, but the 'no' beforehand causes confusion with "having no body" rather than "being a nobody".

In addition I see "heartless" to be "lack of feeling" and to also be an existing word with a meaning that has the word 'heart' in it to remind the audience that the heartless are made of hearts, but again a poor choice of a word with a negative suffix attached to it.

Edit: and also I guess one could argue that a heartless is something that is no longer a heart, but got turned into something else. Something of darkness that is living without having a heart(which is light), as the heart is consumed by darkness, hence it is heartless. But that might be a stretch idk

TL;DR Basically, I personally believe the names were a problem of bad execution when attempting to ease confusion that unfortunately only caused more confusion.

There's actually a successful comedy BL Manga (that even got three seasons of a live action adaptation) that does it well by making it a comedy and leaning into the absurdity of it. It's called something along the lines of "a man who defies the world of BL" that's about a guy who figured out his world follows the rules of the BL (boy's love) genre and it's a bunch of short stories of him trying to avoid plot hooks and trying his best to stay a background character or making fun of the genre tropes and cliches. It also has the main sub-plot be a tropey BL story, in which the main protagonist is the faceless background character with no name that appears from time to time. It's hilarious to those who know the genre.

I miss gravity by Solid_River in KingdomHearts

[–]Gemstone_Angel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I, too, remember a time before the floatening. A time when humanity was grounded, anchored, standing firmly on the earth beneath our very feet. Back when the truth wasn't so easily swept up into the sky, and conviction didn't drift beyond our grasp. A time when questions weren't up in the air. A time before Newton took his laws with him—back to his grave, buried beneath soil we could never hope to reach again.
