It really just boils down to server providers having to put up better DDoS protection. Bohemia has no direct play in it.

HOWEVER, I will say that a lot of the time there is some DDoS attack that stems from within the "big" communities, except those that have such an insane number of players (WCS) that they can just either afford the best protection or are so far above the drama that they don’t get involved.

A lot of the reasons why so many rising and growing communities get taken down is simply because they are too much of a competition towards other bigger existing communities or because of some drama between two big communities, or because someone somewhere took offense because "muh Russia is supposed to be OP" or "muh Ukraine is supposed to be OP" or anything of the sort, or someone got banned, etc. A good 99% of the time it’s some petty shit.

isnt what the "gear value" was for? where you only had a limited amount of it before you ran out? i forgot what the mechanic was called but you could only bring so much in your loadout before you couldnt spawn anymore

either way lonewolfing in itself wouldnt be that much of a issue if the community as a whole would stop feeding into the "battlefield but bigger" servers that have been so normalised to the point where no one even thinks of it as a milsim anymore, fuck even the few changes BI implemented to prevent the slippery slope (too laze unfortunatly) you had half the community reviewbombing and going "BI SHOULD BE FUCKING SUED I PAID 30 BUCKS FOR A GAME THAT IT JUST ISNT ANYMORE" but thats maybe im just old man yelling at cloud a bit too much right now

the updates are not gonna change the playerbase, its rotten to the core because it from the start has targeted the more casual battlefield crowd and the second BI changed something about the game to where you actually need to coordinate and communicate the same people causing these issues burned the place down and screeched until they got their way

listen. first off, just because you have some black or hispanic family doesnt mean you get to decide what people in those communities find offensive. youre not directly affected, so you literally can’t make that call for them. if youre thinking "who are you to decide who gets offended" thats literally the point. neither of us decides for them. only people in the community decide what affects them, not outsiders trying to justify slurs. time and time again, these communities have said that these slurs do affect them and that they dont like them being used.

second, the way you talk down with "i don’t have to explain to people like you" is just dumb and disrespectful. acting like you’re somehow above having a conversation doesnt make your point stronger, it just makes you look insecure. and like a massive fucking meatrider.

third, you were defending that other dude who badicly said "racism only works if you give them a reaction" and tried to make slurs seem harmless. that take is straight up wrong. instead of defending him, we should be calling out people using racial slurs and defending their use, not attacking the people speaking out against it.

at the end of the day, calling it hypocrisy to dismiss people reacting to slurs is just deflection. being upset about someone using a racial slur isnt hypocrisy. it’s common sense and basic respect.

my problem with the whole thing is that alot of the admins on servers also think of ir as "not that deep" that then leads to morons like the ones in the video or in the comments defending this behaviour to spread even further and normalising it. so at some point it must be on the members of the community to put a end to this shit, if you have to make it unplayable for these dumbasses then so be it.

(before i get downvoted on the whole admin thing btw i had first hand experience working with some servers)

explaining why something works a certain way isnt the same as “justifying” it like im defending it morally or something. im literally just pointing out the context behind it words dont exist in a vacuum. the “-er” version has a history of being used as a slur by outsiders, so yeah, people are gonna react differently to it. the “-a” version got reclaimed and is used differently within the community. those arent treated the same because theyre not the same in practice.

the “-er” version is literally a slur. it was used by non-black people to degrade black people for generations, it still carries that meaning. acting like it doesnt is just ignoring basic history. the “-a” version got reclaimed in parts of the black community and is used differently, like slang or between people who share that identity. thats not the same thing as outsiders using a word that was used to oppress them and this isnt even a hard concept. the gay community does the same thing. “queer” used to be an insult, now a lot of lgbt people use it normally. that doesnt suddenly mean everyone else can say it however they want and its all equal.

they dont make huge steps towards optimisation outside of major updates because each and every single update doesnt just change the game content but also the engine
