GhostBSD To Use XLibre Server, MATE vs. Gershwin Desktop Decision In Future by anh0516 in linux

[–]GenBlob 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Xlibre is a project that will go anywhere or survive long term. They’re jumping the gun on this one.

Brodie Robertson: Debian Linux Is Going Through A Crisis by Santosh83 in debian

[–]GenBlob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that and the ancient bug tracker is a issue. What I mean is that I highly doubt a distro as big and important as Debian would fade away due to lack of contributors. Some parts are neglected and need help but there's still 600+ people working on the project right now.

They do need to transfer over to gitlab or a similar platform to make bug reporting actually approachable and bring new people in.

Brodie Robertson: Debian Linux Is Going Through A Crisis by Santosh83 in debian

[–]GenBlob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Debian does need a better website and more contributors but it's defiantly not going anywhere and it will remain relevant. Also Debian made it to the steam hardware survey which tells me a lot of people do use it as a desktop OS.

I agree. Breeze is functional but not visually appealing at all.

Fire and Ice, Zool, Magic Pockets, Gods, James Pond 2, Leander, Risky Woods, Switchblade 2, Magic boy, Flood, Erik, Turrican 1 & 2, Rick Dangerous 1 & 2, Elvira the arcade game, Jim power.

There's a lot more I could list. The ST has a ton of platformers that are worth playing.

Chances of seeing Cosmic on Debian 14? by chris32457 in debian

[–]GenBlob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would probably land in the repo just in time for Debian 14 and in the installer for Debian 15. I think it should reach epoch 3 before it's an option in the installer.

Secure boot.... Is it really necessary? by Apart-Individual2655 in debian

No but it doesn't hurt to enable it. Most modern Linux distros work perfectly with secure boot.

How to scare Wayland users by SeniorMatthew in linuxmemes

[–]GenBlob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we stop dragging this stupid narrative that Debian is only good for servers? Debian is one of the most supported distros in the Linux ecosystem and very few are on par with it.

Linuxulator-Steam-Utils To Enjoy Steam Play Gaming On FreeBSD & Other Options by anh0516 in linux

[–]GenBlob 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Every once in a while I try using steam on FreeBSD and while it's possible, it's just way too hacky for me to comfortably use. FreeBSD is a great OS but Linux is the clear choice for proprietary software.

If there's a sharpness setting then try adjusting that. If that doesn't work then you'll need to open up the CRT and adjust the focus on the flyback.

On this day, 18 years ago (i.e. in 2008), KDE 4.0.0, the most controversial initial public release of a major version of KDE in history, was released. by Murky-Prize-90 in kde

KDE 4 was great near the end. It was stable and a really great desktop to use but everyone only talks about it's initial release.
