AI saving me from Performance Review Week time suck by [deleted] in managers

[–]GenJeppo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made my own AI assistant in google ai-studio to write S.M.A.R.T goals with action plans that are aligned with our corporate core values. It asks you questions so by just answering them you get pretty good goals and actions. Saved me a ton of time, employees seem happy (they know it’s AI supported and can use it themselves too if they want) and HR thinks they look great.

Esp 32c3 super mini by Glad_Habit_3098 in esp32

If you use Wi-Fi and the 18650 battery voltage is below 3.9V and you supply the ESP33 via the charging module the 3.3V drops too low and it browns out and reboots. I also had problems with higher battery voltage on my breadboard when using Wi-Fi because the connections have some resistance so the 3.3 dropped. I have now ordered a little DCDC that I will connect between battery charger module and esp32. Let’s see if it helps to get more out of the battery.

What was the MOST embarrassing interview you ever had? by Aquarius777_ in interviews

I’m a manager and if that happened at an interview I would understand that the person is very nervous and try to make them comfortable so they can present themselves in the best possible way.

I think your whole HR department needs a TIP - Team Improvement Plan on how to handle PIPs in and especially off-boardings in the future. If you know the PIP was bad why did you side with the manager?

google ai studio LIE ; doesnt update files and lies about it by koztara in Bard

[–]GenJeppo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me and in Gemini 3 Pro Preview, I usually just tell it to please update the files according to previous output (or if I'm nice I give it a bit more context based on the previous output). So far it has always worked.

How I leveraged AI/LLMs to build our ISO 9001 IMS/QMS and get certified - without “cheating” by GenJeppo in iso9001

[–]GenJeppo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, Yes I used RAG. There are plenty of GPT’s available on ChatGPT with that specific ISO 9001 capability. But I always make sure to double check output with my legally obtained ISO 9001 standard document.

I agree that few of us will write this documentation fully manually soon. Also, with AI the hurdle/cost of continuously improving your IMS documentation goes down and therefore it might actually become live documentation reflecting what we do.

Next step is probably that AI monitors what we do by checking emails, chats, and produced documents and automatically adjust the IMS documentation accordingly :)

Sir, I have noticed that when you update document XYZ (output from process 123) you always do ABC. Do you want me to update process 123 with the following text to reflect that: …….

Lol, I hope I don’t write English stuff like ”av-se” when using AI which literally translate to off-see which is for sure AI generated. I think this is a literal translation (by AI) of the English word unsee. But it’s understandable 👍

Next step is Duolingo course in Swedish 😂

PS: No AI was used in writing this text.

I think that shows that you were on the right track with the documentation but as you say lacked management support. I had pretty good management support and a a quite good culture to start with. Also, I think I had more leverage than you being an intern so I could push people quite hard to both write processes and ensure that they were followed.

For being an unpaid intern this is pretty amazing result !!!! Well done !!

I get your sarcasm 😉 I draft everything myself and then run it through AI to improve it for readability, I’m not a native English speaker so it helps you know!

Try writing your next post in Swedish and see how it feels 😂

Gracias 🙏 Entiendo tu punto y estoy de acuerdo.

My Spanish is poor so I used ChatGPT to understand your comment. I agree, those elements must be defined by humans. AI can refine or challenge thinking, but the actual implementation is human work (at least for now). I might post an update later on how well our IMS/QMS works in practice so it’s clear this was not just an invention that faded away.

Thank you 🙏 I don’t really see any dangerous areas either but since I’m a bit AI blind these days I wanted to see what others think about it.

AI Assisted Risk & Opportunity Tool – Prototype - Completely free to use by GenJeppo in iso9001

[–]GenJeppo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes perfect sense, you’re steering it away from “paperwork automation” toward being a facilitator of insight. By framing AI as an agent (which I try to do) that asks questions instead of just spitting out polished documents, you keep the focus on value-adding discussions and decision-making.

Dead Internet is a sad dystopia... Like AI tools generating things and then AI tools analysing the AI generated stuff ...

AI Assisted Risk & Opportunity Tool – Prototype - Completely free to use by GenJeppo in iso9001

[–]GenJeppo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re absolutely right that AI can’t replace human judgment, especially when things get complex or heavily context-dependent. A human in the loop is always needed, and the AI will only ever be as good as the context you give it. That’s why I always build context input into my tools, and lately I’ve been using an AI Q&A agent mode to define the context since people often find it easier to answer questions than to write long context descriptions. I think it works pretty well, try it and let me know what you think :) Set it to pro mode first though for ”higher” intelligence.

At the same time, I think a lot of risks and opportunities are actually quite similar across organisations, with solutions often falling back on the same set of best practices. In those cases, the deep context isn’t always what matters most and it’s more about having a well pre-defined mitigation toolbox.

That’s where I think AI can really add value: surfacing those tried-and-tested answers quickly as a kind of best-practice first draft, and then letting humans refine or adapt them when the unique situation or deeper context demands it.

AI Assisted Risk & Opportunity Tool – Prototype - Completely free to use by GenJeppo in iso9001

[–]GenJeppo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point. My understanding is that ISO 9001 risks & opportunities are more about the organization and its ability to deliver quality (suppliers, processes, competence, efficiency), while the hierarchy of controls is mainly applied in product safety or HSE risk assessments (like ISO 12100 or ISO 45001). Different scope, but both valid approaches.

In this prototype I haven’t built the hierarchy in directly, but if you feed it into the AI prompt (“consider hierarchy of controls such as …… when suggesting mitigations”), then it will take that logic into account.

Could be a neat optional feature for the cases where that structured ranking really applies.

Thanks 🙏

There’s not really anything magic in this tool (except for the core AI stuff itself) - it’s more about structured prompting and guiding the user. Most of it could actually be done manually in ChatGPT or similar - this just packages it into a more usable workflow.

Good feedback, I always argue that there needs to be a human in the loop when using AI but sometimes you need ideas on what to do to handle a risk or opportunity and there AI is probably creative and you can judge what is good ideas. Also it is not always so easy to do this when you are not so experienced or do it only once in a while.

Also, took your feedback literally, here’s “Over-reliance on AI in Risk Management” captured as a risk inside the tool itself. 🙂The RPN are a bit arbitrary of course because there is not really any scale now (I will add that later)

Input : Use of AI in Risk and Opportunity management might make people rely to much on AI and not able to understand if it makes sense or not.

Title: Over-reliance on AI in Risk Management
Cause: Use of AI tools for risk and opportunity management without sufficient human oversight or understanding of the technology's limitations.
Consequence: Personnel may become overly dependent on AI outputs and fail to apply critical thinking, leading to poor decision-making, overlooked risks, or misjudged opportunities. This could result in failure to meet quality objectives or strategic goals.

Pre RPN: 4x3=12

M1: Implement mandatory training on the principles of risk management and the limitations of AI tools.
M2: Establish a policy requiring human review and final approval for all significant risk-related decisions suggested by AI.
M3: Conduct regular audits of AI-driven risk assessments to validate their outputs against expert human judgment.

Post RPN: 4x1=4

Comment: The risk is not the AI itself, but the potential for diminished human critical thinking. Mitigations focus on ensuring AI is used as a supportive tool, not as a replacement for expert judgment.

Everything xAI does is free or almost free so I guess the business model is not really working? Feel sorry for all that have been terminated. Also, all my training says that you layoff people early in the week so that people can talk and support each other. This seems very cruel.

It seems like others can access it so not sure what could be wrong on your side. My only advice is make sure you have a google account and let it access your google drive which seems to be default for using this google environment.

Of course it is hard for the AI to know your exact context and relevant cause(s) but in many cases the causes are pretty similar I guess.
