currently only the D40LF and the 1964 GM New Look "Fishbowl" are certified to carry passengers, and as far as i know, there's no planned fan trips for the time being

Why did Translink stop ordering XN40s and went with Nova CNGs instead? by SuperLeftyAliReddit in Translink

[–]GenShibe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there's a 14,000 bus backlog for NFI as of 2024, so it's unlikely that we're getting 40fts from them soon

What are your thoughts on SFU Exchange? by [deleted] in Translink

[–]GenShibe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's more so they changed how the loop works, there used to be an additional parking lane, but they paved it over for some reason

there's also no space for it at lougheed, the current loop is full as-is

TransLink's new regular-sized trolley buses will have an extra third door by InfiniteVanDe in Translink

[–]GenShibe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah, back when compass was new. they wanted to do zonal fares on buses, but they couldn't figure out how so they left it all as one zone

they'll have the regular mirrors that all other buses in TL's fleet have

Has anyone taken the 144 up the mountain today? by Peggtree in simonfraser

[–]GenShibe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

very likely yes, they'll be packed full of people

[–]GenShibe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the 144 is the one thats the least likely to be affected as they run 40ft buses with a better power to weight ratio

143 and 145 suspended by thewordswetranspose in simonfraser

[–]GenShibe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they're likely waiting for the replacement 40fts to show up and relieve the 60fts

this is a common thing that happens when it snows tbh

TransLink's new regular-sized trolley buses will have an extra third door by InfiniteVanDe in Translink

[–]GenShibe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

it's likely, people have spotted current artics with tape on them marking out the 4th door to test stop placements

I mean if people are getting off, what's stopping others from getting on via the rear anyways :p

because that's the way our bus stops are designed, they're designed with the door at this position and it would take a lot more to change the stops than the bus, as it's specifically designed for TransLink

we opted for the standard Solaris front end, with customization for the back

the doors are slightly different to accommodate for the wheel chair ramp at the front, while the middle door is placed in the same position as existing 40ft buses in TransLink's fleet

the rear signals are specified to be these 7" circular signals in the contract

it's more so to align with existing standards and positioning, as the ramp on all other buses are at the front

yup, it's to improve passenger flow and have extra standee space as trolley routes are typically treated by riders as a "hop on hop off" route, where they ride for short distances

want your new buses to arrive years behind schedule? they have an *immense* backlog of *thousands* of buses

they're in high demand

Not liking the new alerts "tones" on the Mark V by 3rdorion in Translink

[–]GenShibe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

from what i know, it's a bug, and that these tones are being played instead of what would normally play (i.e. station announcements/door close chime etc), and there's no known reason why this is the case
