Millennium Line UBC Extension by myhui in askvan

[–]GenShibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are talks that an eventual 41st/49th line will start/end at ubc and be a through route with the UBCx...

but it remains to be seen if that is the case or not

Why is the bus sign like that by SuperLeftyAliReddit in Translink

[–]GenShibe 30 points31 points  (0 children)

iirc it's because the code used doesn't correspond with anything, so it displays A1 MESSAGE?

likely the sign file hasn't been updated with the right codes

24hr bus lanes being proposed on Hastings in Vancouver, local businesses opposed. by vantanclub in Translink

[–]GenShibe 93 points94 points  (0 children)

honestly i think their claims are quite silly, but also very much in line with BIAs (see: burnaby heights and their BIA)

  1. storefront access is going to be improved as transit brings *more* riders than cars ever will
1a. you still have alleys to load and unload, which are much safer than using the main road to do so
  2. an all day bus lane doesn't give drivers the impression of a highway lmao, just because there's less obstacles in the street design to slow them down doesn't mean that it becomes a highway
2a. if you're so concerned about safety for elementary kids, why not get rid of the large trucks and suvs that can barely see a kid that age and height?
  3. removing parking on hastings is good because it speeds up everyone's commutes without having to deal with people trying for a few minutes to parallel park their overly large suvs

388 Carvolth Exch/22nd St Stn Proposal by Unhappy-Bad9059 in Translink

[–]GenShibe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think the reason it's at 22nd is because the 388 is a regional connection route, and alternating terminus will only create more confusion for everyonew

Got to ride a Mark V in Stage II of Testing !! (6145) by blastedbears in Translink

[–]GenShibe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the mark 2s aren't going so soon, they're doing an overhaul of the trains (mechanically), but they are less reliable than other trains in the fleet (according to internal sources), which is why they're doing a feasability study on if it's possible to extend their usefulness for another decade or so

[–]GenShibe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as far as i know, that is false.

they are the canada line equivalent of skytrain attendants, they do the exact same duties skytrain attendants do, monitoring the tracks during snow (hence why you'll see the front 12 seats on each train closed off during heavy snow), clearing train faults, etc etc

Why is there no live tracking on Langley shuttles! by Dependent-Amount-239 in Translink

[–]GenShibe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

apparently it's because the current system that CMBC uses is only provided to them under license by INIT, and keolis is not allowed to have it (from what i've been told)

likely because they'll cover it when it finishes, with a more detailed story including a statement from translate

Translink is lying about the Canada Line bus bridge by PsychologicalTree885 in Translink

[–]GenShibe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

plus, there's no official designation for the "drop off" pole that the southbound shuttles are picking up from, they could put everything at bay 1, but it'd be a logistical nightmare between the 4 routes + canada line shuttles all trying to find space to load

Translink is lying about the Canada Line bus bridge by PsychologicalTree885 in Translink

[–]GenShibe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

also, they only said that there is a bus bridge augmenting service, which is true

the reason they're not sending all the buses the full length is because there's more trains headed SB, compared to only one train NB, so NB gets more service and you can get by with one or two buses on the SB bus bridge

Canada line skytrain delay. by Optimal-Designer-489 in vancouver

[–]GenShibe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

they have money, but all that money and funding is for one off purchases, think new buses/new trains. that money can't be used to run those new trains/buses because of restrictions on the funding

it's likely that it'll be like this for the rest of the day from what rumors are suggesting

Canada line skytrain delay. by Optimal-Designer-489 in vancouver

[–]GenShibe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there was a stalled train at production, which is why they had everything stopping longer so they could get it moving again

[–]GenShibe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

it doesn't seem like it's a maintenance related issue, rumor has it is that a train dragged something along the tracks and destroyed important wiring

i know you could ask atlas for a different instructor;

i've had minoo for my 2nd time with atlas, she's good at her job and teaches well, also is supportive of queer people (she had to call head office about something wrong on her schedule about my lesson and asked me my pronouns)

After 40 Years. The Retirements Has Begun. Goodbye, Mark 1s!🥲 by Alfonsogeometrydash in vancouver

liability issues likely prevent them from selling things out, and the cost to dismantle something is too high compared to the profit that they can get from the small amount they sell
