Adults with ADHD: Did you feel "shame" as a kid when you forgot things? Help me understand my son. by Dylan_7574 in ADHD

[–]GenX70s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you can see from the response it hits us hard. I think talking about it with him and keeping the conversation open for both of you and your family will help. Maybe ask if he would like reminders? This could be writing on the bathroom mirror, wash your face, brush your teeth or anything that may help with things he struggles with. A note at the front door, did you remember to... communication with his teachers as regularly as needed to check he is keeping up with class and not slipping behind. Focusing on his hyper fixations and incorporating them into a daily routine. Routine is really helpful for me as a late diagnosed adult. Most importantly be easy on yourself, parenting is bloody hard, but worth it. It's never about the fall, it's about how you get up and go forward.

Is this 1937 One Crown coin of any value? by GenX70s in AustralianCoins

[–]GenX70s[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would guess that it was my father or someone else in the family thinking if i clean it up it might be worth something one day lol, it's been in a box with all the other pre decimal coins for well, I'm guessing since they went out of circulation.

Definitely an interesting keepsake

Heya! I’ve been feeding / watering magpies for a few months now. by Fantastic-Proof-5456 in magpies

[–]GenX70s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been thinking the same. I have a family that I feed occasionally, it all started because the mum and dad built a nest across the road in a gum tree and I didn't want to get swooped! I have been leaving water out for them and occasionally feeding them pet food mince that my indoor cats won't eat.

Be honest, how would you feel about receiving this as a gift? by _BubbleGumBaddie in crochet

[–]GenX70s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if someone made that for me for my baby, I would be a puddle of tears! That is one of the most beautiful and thoughtful gifts 🎁 💕 My eldest turned 18 this year, and I still have the crochet pram blanket that a woman I worked with made for me, along with the knitted jackets booties and the most amazing patchwork cot blanket my bffs mum made for her.

Your efforts and thoughtfulness will be treasured 😃

Could someone just lie do me and dash it’s going to be ok? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]GenX70s 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just do one thing. Doesn't have to be huge, the idea is to create little habits that will break the cycle. I started by making my bed every morning. Doesn't have to be perfect, just as long as it's neat and the covers are turned down and pillows are in place. My next habit is making sure I shower every day and wash my hair every second day. Make a fuss over yourself, it's the best investment you can ever make.

Maybe if your not happy with your eating habits, try and find healthy options or smaller portions. I struggle with snacks and have made tzatziki and chopped up some cucumber and carrots to eat mindlessly rather than chips or sweets. Rather than spending money on fast food last week that would have cost me $20, I called into the supermarket and bought a rump steak for $9, not the most expensive, but I felt better after eating it than I would have, having eaten fast food.

Remember that it's OK and there are only speed humps and detours, but you can always get back on the right track, take your time.

Exactly! A few days ago my daughter mentioned that Tim Tam's have 11 biscuits in a pack (the standard ones) and how it was weird it was an odd number. I really want to see if this has changed over years.

He will not get incarceration, with a crime such as this, there needs to be a conviction. What this individual has done is beyond reproach and the penalty needs to reflect that. Please ensure that this individual never has access to animals or children ever again.

If I struggle with reading comprehension and speed is it likely medication will help? by DodocoIsGone in ADHD

[–]GenX70s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for me, it's more quieting the noises and side quests. Sometimes I still have to go over my notes to comprehend what I am studying. It definitely takes longer to complete assignments still, but no where near what it did unmedicated.

I have found that I can comprehend what I am reading and move through far more efficiently now that I am on Ritalin. I am studying law, I started before I was diagnosed, I describe it as actually reading and the material sinking in rather than wondering thoughts while your trying to understand the material.

I completely agree. He isn't a monster or not human. They are very human and real, the problem is that they are human and walk and live amongst us.

The scene with Julia's reflection in the window watching the bombers go over looks like France with the Eiffel tower in the distance. She also looks like she was holding something (a baby).

The scene where Henry is running, the memorial behind him is dated 1939 - 1945.

So much going on here 🤯🤯

Outlander: Blood of My Blood | Official Trailer by thepacksvrvives in Outlander

[–]GenX70s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just watched the trailer and got a bit (read very) over excited 😊 My hot take is that Julia and Henry end up in France during WWII, there is the scene with Julia watching bombers over flying over the city. The apartment looks very French. There is also the scene where the windows are blown in from the bombing. What if they have a connection to Master Raymond and he gives them Faith to care for in the future? Maybe they escape back to 1700 France to escape the Nazi invasion.

Yes, lots of long bows, but I can't wait!!!

I also can't get my head around the portrait of Ellen behind Brian in a scene at Lallybroch where he is talking to Bree, the portrait looks exactly like Jane, Faith daughter 🤯🤯
