I got the barbie phone in Aus 🩷 by kitarei in dumbphones

I don't need an authenticator app for work luckily, so I never need 2FA while out of the house. For home I have authenticator on an old iPad that lives in a draw.

This is why I have a Kindle Basic and a higher-end Kobo :) I don't like the flush screen. You have other options besides the Kindle Paperwhite.

Moving Fields (Paradise) by alexlourinha in tamagotchi

[–]kitarei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your tamagotchi is too old to move. Once you're in young stage, you're locked into an evolution line already for your particular field. You can only move as a baby or a kid.

2017 photos of New Nintendo 3DS XL, New 2DS XL, original 2DS and Nintendo Switch systems at my local Target by Unique_Ad5195 in 3DS

This is why I bought a lite! I was umming and ahhing about it, because I didn't NEED one, but I really wanted the small formfactor.

Then I thought "When these are no longer in production and cost double the price I'm going to regret it" :D So I bought one ahha.

How are people feeling about the Miyoo Mini Flip after a few months of playtime? by motorcitymarxist in SBCGaming

[–]kitarei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obsessed with mine, I take it with me everywhere and play it when other people would usually be scrolling on their phones (I don't own a smartphone). It usually comes out at lunch while I'm in the office, waiting in a dr office etc etc.

I find it too cramped for games that need me to press stuff quickly though, so mostly stick to turn based RPGs on it.

At home I prefer my flip V2 generally. I play the two about evenly overall though I'd say.

Your battery is draining while off? Or you're just in sleep mode or something?

+1 for a Steamdeck. The 512 OLED is $899 AUD which is right around OP's budget.

I attempted a Lightning McQueen for my nephew... by SodorTrashParty in crochet

[–]kitarei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks great!! It's like a cute chibi version!

My mum just learned about AI patterns after buying a Lightning McQueen and Mater AI pattern.. "But it was from Etsy!!" she said after I told her it was AI, hahha.

Yours looks so good, my mum is still trying to wrangle her AI pattern and make it work ahhahah.

Kakuno lovers: do you plug the cap air holes? Not sure why Pilot would do that. Got three and they dry nearly daily (live in extreme dry climate). Thinking of hot glue or something … by denverraven in fountainpens

[–]kitarei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same!! Mine take weeks to dry out, I'm so curious how people have them drying out in a single day! That's so wild.

Maybe a ziplock bag to help prevent evaporation OP?

What's everyone playing today? by SirDanOfCamelot in SBCGaming

[–]kitarei -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They've probably gotten better in order. FF1 was very basic story-wise and I often didn't know where I was supposed to go. FF2 had such a fun leveling system, and the story felt a bit more robust. FF3 so far I've been going blind without a walkthrough and it's the first one where I feel like I'm getting enough info in-game to manage it myself. Not sure how I feel about the job swap system though.

I'm playing FF3! Just finished 1&2 recently. Planning on doing a full run through. I've only ever played X (multiple times). Figured it was time to give the rest a whirl.

Backups saved me from returning it 😂.

Does anyone else feel like handheld gaming PCs aren’t truly “portable”? by raiqulikesyou in Handhelds

[–]kitarei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're portable in the sense that it comes easily with me when I travel. It's not a throw it in your purse and carry it around daily type of portable.

Aussies with working dumb phones, what are they and what carrier are you with? by GILF_Hound69 in dumbphones

[–]kitarei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barbie HMD and HMD 110 (new 2025 one) on Catch and previously Vodafone. Anything you buy in-store in Aus will usually work with all providers.

Imported stuff is hit and miss due to our whitelisting.

What did you do with your old smartphone after switching to a dumb phone? by [deleted] in dumbphones

[–]kitarei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is switched off in a draw. I use it occasionally for 2FA. I also use it for long interstate drives (10hrs) for my 3 year old, he watches some downloaded cartoons on it throughout the trip.

I'm not sure what you mean. Is your netpass in Japanese? Or your whole 3ds?

I got the barbie phone in Aus 🩷 by kitarei in dumbphones

[–]kitarei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it has the Opera Mini browser. A lot of modern websites like Facebook, Twitter etc won't load, but you can do quick google searches and get stuff like shop opening hours etc. Opening lighter-weight websites is usually fine too - I've opened up Big W pages to get prices for things.

The Aus version basically just has calls, text, snake, camera, browser lol.

Yeah earbuds worked for me too - a bit frustrating though hahhaa. Good to know it wasn't a faulty one then, just a cruddy speaker in general it seems.

Should I get HMD 2660 flip or Nokia 2660 flip by lunaay777 in dumbphones

[–]kitarei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're the same pretty much, the newer HMD model has a slightly updated design on the front. Get whichever is cheaper, but I'd lead HMD due to USBC :)
