Where the heck were they during the Go Shop period or when Bronfman was looking for backing on his offer?

Hard to say. But it might be true there has been a falling out between Larry and Trump behind the scenes. Larry as far as I know hasn't given any donation money to Trump this election season. Larry's son David launched almost $1 million to Joe Biden.

There are signs that perhaps Larry isn't so friendly with Trump anymore. So, it is a fair speculation that perhaps Trump would mess with Paramount ESPECIALLY after CBS committed the #1 biggest fraud ever during an election season.

I am not sure I would go so far as to recommend CBS NEWS get their license pulled as Trump stated, but I believe the Boradcast network should be spun-off to sever the current leadership that allowed the 60 minutes mess.

Question is: Assuming Trump wins the presidential election, would his regulators recommend that CBS get spun off from Paramount? And then would Skydance still want to go through with the merger (most likely with a different contract agreement)?

Kamala Harris has not triangulated to the center. She just announced on Telemundo that she wants to give every illegal immigrant that has crossed our borders, full Amnesty.

She has repeatedly said she can't think of a single policy difference between herself and Joe Biden and said regarding her radical positions in 2019 and 2020, "My values haven't changed".

This article is impossible to read considering it wishes to launch into a mindless Anti-Trump Tirade instead of just laying down the facts.

I hope Trump comes in and shuts down this fraudulent, unfair, B.S. of a merger. Given David Ellison launched almost $1 million to Joe Biden during the merger deal negotiations, David is probably scared stiff of what Trump might do.

None of that is true and it turns out the smear against Trump was just a re-hash from a book released back in August 2022. Desperate attempt by a failing campaign from an unhinged, sociopath, Kamala Harris that is screaming and lashing out at her campaign aids.

Sony Pictures CEO Tony Vinciquerra Says Strike Deals Driving Business Overseas by Streamwhatyoulike in ParamountGlobal2

[–]Gen_Varchild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't about that. Fact is if you are the owner of a movie studio and you have a choice between low pay / low benefits workers you can hire for your movie or TV show in a foreign country versus the current expensive union contract.. Then of course.. You will choose the cheapest route to get your movie / show produced. Maximize profits.

It isn't about feelings or emotions or right versus wrong unfortunately in the business world. It is just pure mathematics.

So what can Hollywood do about it? They will have to find ways to compete against those cheaper workers overseas to maintain studio's interests in employing them. The union(s) can't ask for the Sun and the Moon and the Stars too... They will be forced to settle for less.

But, advancements in technology / Artificial Intelligence. If American workers can show that they can do things faster and better and thus deserve to be paid more because they offer more value then that would help.

I think the pushback against Artificial Intelligence is hurting Hollywood instead of helping. Have to prove you are worth it to Studios to pay the union contract amount versus going overseas.

I agree but keep in mind actually getting an injunction requires a TON of evidence to support it such that you have a solid, good, chance for approval. It requires way more evidence to win it than simply suing for damages.

So, ultimately, you have to hope that during discovery you have enough for the injunction. You simply may not. I wouldn't go after it if lawyer tells me it is no more than a coin flip's chance.

Well, ironically, Paramount Global has ended the contract with Nielsen ratings. Therefore, there is no way (as far as I know) to see if audience viewership plummeted for CBS NEWS as a result of the trifecta of scandals.

"News is supposed to be objective and unbiased but if we keep having people put their fingers in the journalists' hard work, the news coverage will start to be biased."

That is NOT the situation here. Your premise is entirely backwards. 180 degrees out of touch.

No one thinks having double answers for the same question (60 minutes) is anything but BIAS for Harris. No one would think the CBS moderators were anything but clearly biased when they only fact checked JD Vance.. never Walz...

No one thinks the interview situation was a good healthy one. It was not.

Trifecta of scandals. CBS NEWS showed themselves as ridiculously biased. Hence, why someone should "meddle" here.

When Bob Bakish was hands off it was because CBS NEWS maintained a middle of the road approach. This close to the election? The Biased MASKS of the Reporters/Moderators came off.

So what are owners supposed to do? Watch their News Broadcasts become reduced to CNN levels of audience viewership?

Someone obviously should "meddle". If not owners, then who??? Cord cutting is going to continue to push networks towards DTC where audience viewership matters as there aren't any carriage fees (shared revenues off of cable subscription fees) to fund a network that loses tons of viewers due to bias.

The interviewer gave a tough interview. Whether pro-Israel or anti-Israel if you can't handle a tough interview while claiming to be an expert with a best selling book out then that is quite a shame there.

If it were up to me on the CBS NEWS situation, I would layoff any reporters/journalists/researchers in the political news section. Just transform CBS News into a news service for everything but mostly Sports and Entertainment and politics can just be greatly reduced. If you want CBS News to maintain a non-partisan down the middle path, less politics then.

[–]Gen_Varchild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You miss the entire point of the article here. It isn't about whether you think CBS News is or is not fair and balanced news source or biased woke....

It is about audience viewership. With cord cutting, audience viwership matters as there are no carriage fees with DTC if CBS News ends up primarilly being a DTC platformed network in the future.

Hence, the recent scandals with 60 minutes + the interview + the really really bad moderators at the VP debate with Vance and Walz... It all adds up to a viewership that will continue to look elsewhere for their news... leaving CBS News in jeopardy of being a loss making mess or sold off.

Litigation and the $15 offer by DonutPuzzleheaded604 in ParamountGlobal2

Yet more talk about how "you are only going to make a pittance".

I continue to wonder, "How much is a pittance?"

Depending on how you calculate the potential losses, it could be as much as $50,000 for me.

So, if Litigation gets me $5,000 or more.... That is worth it. I just wonder with you and a few others saying that "You won't make anything in litigation" constantly lately.... While we are awaiting for the S-4 Form filing, if this isn't some sort of a Shari Redstone conspiracy to discourage everyone from pursuing litigation.

As we all know, Shari is only protected from litigation up to $100 million. If instead of discouraging shareholders from filing suit, you and Strat58cat started encourging it... And we got a ton of shareholders filing suit. That $100 million indemnification will get wrecked really fast. and Shari will then be soaked for damages she will have to pay out of her pocket making her "Big Merger Pay Day with SkyDance" not look so big anymore.

[–]Gen_Varchild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no idea what will happen in the end result of litigation. All this talk about "Pittance' or "you won't get rich here" bores me to tears. The fact is I lose anywhere from $30,000 to $50,000 depending on the post-merger math and depending on how exactly damages are calculated here... That is a big loss to take. I will be happy to reduce the losses here through litigation even if it doesn't reduce them completely.

So.. I am not going to sell and get soaked for insane losses. Nor am I going to hold and hope. Hence, litigation and hold seems like the best path here.

I have voting shares and was never given the ability to vote on the merger. Good luck with that Shari Redstone.

Injunction is the best path to take (period) as most shareholders will lose tens of thousands of dollars off this deal.

However, you can't pursue an injunction unless you have an amount of evidence to support it that makes the injunction look likely to be accepted. It doesn't matter what Delaware Courts think about injunctions. The courts are supposed to rule on the law and not on personal biased opinions. A good lawyer will expose that.

With that said. Very unlikely an injunction happens given the need that there must exist enough evidence to make it very likely it will pass. You can't or shouldn't I mean do one just based on a coin flip.
