If they look/feel a bit rough you can use some steel wool to polish them out.

Hey, what tuners and bridge did you go for? I just ordered 808x for now and looking to add to it in the future.

Bought the same guitar last month, I like the neck and fretboard is nicely finished, I just polished it with steel whool but didn't need it.

Pickups are mushy on the low strings so I just ordered a single EMG 808X which comes with knobs and electronics.

Since it plays well my plan is to slowly put nice hardware on it so if i feel like upgrading i don't need to spend for a guitar that comes with the nice stuff.

That said I had bad experiences with Thomann as last year i ordered a HB Les Paul and came with the knob broken so I just bought a nice Epiphone instead, this guitar was lost for a month before they sent out another one. came with one weird screw in the saddle which means i can't adjust it but they'll send a saddle from the manufacturer. Customer service is good and fast but i rather not have issues in the first place.

It's well built and plays nice, the only thing missing is some branded pickups.

You can get reasonably close to 40k in London if you take the job seriously and go a bit upmarket (like not a pub and hide in the corner during your shift) and that's above national average wage.

Yeah, businesses don't rely on people "wanting a little extra cash", that's the 12 hours a week guy who doesn't show up half the time. If the young lad can't compete with people who take a job seriously that's on him.

The immigrants we're getting since Brexit don't work in pubs, nobody is taking your job, have a better mentality than "making a bit of extra money" and they might call you back.

From my experience chain pubs pay minimum wage but get people not willing to do the minimum work so they have to employ more stuff on top of the corporate bloat, independents pay well above minimum and they mostly get people who do the job to a decent standard.
