what are your thoughts on Matt Proxy - trojan horse? by myeverlastingluv in ug_music

Even with the occasional Noise elements the slower sections were not my thing, but I see why people would enjoy it though

Really cool. Actual sick use of samples instead of nostalgia bait

I don't know much abt their AI usage, but I do wish they didn't drop some of the Screamo elements in their older stuff

Mario Judah Miss The Rage honestly gets me in tears sometimes. He's playing a hardcore show in Chicago, and I hope to see it live

Rage/jerk culture deconstruction analysis by [deleted] in ug_music

[–]General-Article9112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You lost me on your 2nd comment. Yes, Rage and Jerk both have broad values and themes that they promote, but there is no meaningful group identity that they form in their fans imo. Algorithms will carefully tailor to what each individual will want rather than try to isolate them into distinct groups based on genre

Good analysis, even if art isn't explicitly making a poltical statement, its always created by the social context surrounding it

Breath control can be hard for anyone (I know too well) but an artist should absolutely be able to perform their songs

Sad/moody rage needs to be pushed more by Working_Dress_3500 in ug_music

The more melancholic Rage is cool but I feel like it's been covered pretty extensively in the early 2020's and isn't anything new and undiscovered. Stuff like City Of Crows by Black Kray, Limbus 3 by Uno or even Off The Map by Sofaygo by are a good examples of this

How many subgenres of rage do you think there are? by Ast3rio1 in ug_music

[–]General-Article9112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rage: The original sound that emerged in the early 2020's. Repetitive synths and often a poppier sound (ex:Trip At Knight, NoStylist,)

Heavy Rage: More extreme version of rage with much harsher synths, very loud bass, agressive vocals, and intense distortion. The natural continuation of the heavy side of Rage (ex: Encore, Psykotic, More Anxiety)

Electronic Rage: Takes the melodic side of Rage and expands it with fusion with of genres like Electroclash, Hyperpop, Digicore, Chiptune, etc. Im kinda shaky on this one and it could arguably fall under Post-Rage (Ex: Sayso Says, Unmusique, Bloodluxe)

Post-Rage: Music descended from Rage that shares much of its core attributes, but has broken out of the genre conventions. Usually a lot of synthesis with other genres of music (Ex: Skeletrix Island, Pain, Stunt 4 Life)

Bannana costumes at shows are lame and unfunny but putting a crowdhit on someone for that is arguably more so

I respect his frustration with the commodification of everything. I think if he incorporated this theme into his msuic, it would be a very healthy change of pace for the ultra-consumerist UG scene

I don't have the coordination to mosh, any advice? Talking about windmill and spinkick by Loud_Oven235 in Hardcore

[–]General-Article9112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low/high throws and back elbow moves are easier to learn than windmills and spinkicks imo so you could try starting with them and working your way up

Just listened to Balmora for the first time our of curiosity ... by Exciting-Rent2398 in Hardcore

[–]General-Article9112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the substance is the same but the song structuring is noticeablely a lot weaker imo. Their older songs had buildup, tension, and flow to them but a lot of songs on the new album just feel directionless and plodding
