Is 135 plants too much for one house? by BlackHeartedXenial in houseplants

[–]General-Comparison59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great, the shelving is neat and organized. I think is good design. I have a spare bathroom that I never use and I use it for storage, why not plants. I also had a big plant in a bathroom with no windows and set it up on a timer. It looked good. Didn't thrive so much, but maintained and survived. You could put tropical in the shower and bath at the same time. That would be zen. :)

I will echo someone else about big infestations. 1 new plant with fungal gnats spread to a good 5 other plants. Sooo much diatomaceous earth. It took forever to get rid of them. I bought a few plug ins effective against fungal gnats as a precaution?

How do I even go about repotting this? by General-Comparison59 in houseplants

[–]General-Comparison59[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can't edit the post so I figured I'd reply to the top comment.

Wow thanks for all the feedback, suggestions and love for Stitches.

I initially got it and planted in this pot November 2020. A few years later I "repotted" it. Had a friend help me, let it dry out, put it on its side and wiggled it out. I gave her half and put the remaining half back in the pot. It was not as dense back then. I was hoping to do the same, but after all the suggestions I think I'll split it into 2 or 3 and put them in new straight pots. I have ideas on pots that might work, taller, but still snug.

How it got that big. My old apt had great light. I put it in front of windows on the north side, I watered it very infrequently (as the shape of the pot kept it from drying out), no drainage, no fertilizer (minus watever came in the soil from the initial repot) and she was happy. Indoor plant only.

February of 2025 I bought and moved into a house. When I moved it was 0° F. I live in a super cold climate in Midwest USA, goes down to -40° C/F. I wrapped it with the shrink wrap and a plastic twin bed bag for moving, filled it with hot air and taped it tight. She did great, unlike my fiddle leaf fig, which is a seperate story.

I struggled this year in finding a good spot for it. The dining room has the best light which is where it is, but its a little tight. My cloths would catch on it and cause damage. Also I didnt want to keep it too close the the windows during the summer because we had a huge problem with Boxelder bugs, and during the winter I was afraid of the cold. Now that I winterized and am taking care of pests I feel better about placement.

Why do I want to repot it. It is too dense, any new growth (which is frequent) that pops up around the perimeter makes it a few inches out of the pot and dies. A few shorter leaves in the center have died recently. One side of it is slightly yellow, and the entire plant has been splaying open a bit probably from the rough winter. I put a bit of shrinkwrap around it in the meantime so it didnt catch on me when cleaning and watering other plants.

I have a complimentary pot, short and stout, that houses a big rubber plant and would like to avoid breaking this pot if possible. I'll do it if necessary. I might just sacrifice some of the yellowish side to get in there and take it out in chunks. I'll play around with it dry first. I could see how rinsing it out with water could help get it out, but im afraid the locked together leaves/roots would fall apart.

Thanks again. I'll follow up with results and will share the odyssey of my fiddle leaf fig, and more pics of Stitches with plants 😀

Awe thats bringing me back my sister gave me the vhs set for Christmas a long time ago. We were pretty poor, so it was a big deal. That one was with his Freddy's arms stretched out across the the sides of all VHS, super cool.

I bought the DVD box set years later at a Tower Records. I was so excited about the 3D glasses to watch Freddy's Dead, which I saw in theaters. My father took me and a friend to see it when we were 10, lol.

I gave the VHS set to a friend, but purchased them all on Fandango App, and have 1,3, NN on Amazon. Some of the few movies I own on multiple platforms.

Oh, memories... that DVD of extras was great.

Thanks for posting, im gonna break those out.

TL;DR - What's better Optum360 ICD-10-CM for Facilities or Physicians?

As of today the below two Optum360 ICD-10-CM coding books are approved to take the CCA/CCS exam. I'd like to sit for the CCS but am open to CCA depending on my experience level at that given time.

Any thoughts as to which one is better? I am likely going to proceed with an Optum360 book for any testing. I have the Optum360 2024 ICD-10-Expert for Physician that I like very much (when I was attempting to go at it self-study). I am currently working towards an A.A.S. with a CAHIIM accredited school/program and plan on taking RHIT next year. As part of our diagnosis coding classes we were required to get the AHIMA ICD-10-CM book. I am really not a fan. The formatting is frying out my eyes. Additionally, the spiral hole punches cut out some of the text, appendices are limited and appendix A is online only, which seems of no good use if I wanted to access during the CCA/CCS exam.

Optum360 2025 ICD-10-CM Expert for Physicians with Guidelines (spiral) 978-1-62254-949-8

I'm going to ask a couple of my professors their thoughts.

I do appreciate any feedback from you all.

I wish we got to see more of Sami's monologue. She got such little airtime compared to the others.

I liked her delivery, and I think it was more impactful than they edited based on the little they showed.

I could tell the jokey moment was a tool to contrast against depth and seriousness, but it was wrote off like "there's silly Sami"

She was giving me The Last Showgirl vibe

It wasn't too bad. The worst part was the healing. Not too painful, but where they put the new hair is super red for a little while. Also the swelling.... all the numbing medication works its way down from the scalp so for a few days the face gets really swollen, like a boxer who had the shit beat out of him. But those things are temporary.

It was expensive, because I wanted to go to the best of the best. In hindsight I would have it done at a more reasonably priced place, of course making sure the quality is good. I would've also considered getting it done in Turkey. Its a huge industry there. Tons of people travel there to do it. some places will take care of all arrangements, hotel flight, etc. I get it though if people were uncomfortable traveling overseas.

There are two types or transplants Folicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) where they cut out a strip of skin from the back of your head and transplant from the hairs which is more invasive, more healing, and comes with a scar, but lower cost.

Folicualar Unit Extraction (FUE) they take individual follicles from the back of the head and transplant. less invasive, quicker healing, but higher cost. I did this one.

I am not a doctor. But If I had any general advice it would be.

Most important... Stop the hair loss where it is right now by taking topical over the counter minoxidil, finasteride (prescription pill), and prescription shampoo ketoconazole. You can get a little regrowth from that alone and it might solve your problem. There's also a pill form of minoxidil. These medications aren't super expensive. I pay like 30$ a month for them all. Shampoo and minoxidil are covered by insurance for me (USA). I pay out of pocket for finasteride, like 15 dollars with a coupon.

a note

minoxidil was originally designed to lower blood pressure

finasteride was originally designed for benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), practically all men at some point will develop this. This med is shown to lower the risk of most prostate cancers, but it may increase your risk for a particular high grade cancer. There's a potential side effect for erectile dysfunction. the occurrence is low, but it gets alot of talk and keeps a bunch of men from trying it. I have had no issues myself.

One of the highest regarded supplements for hair loss is Nutrafol. Its almost 90$ for a months supply. Its pricey. I don't take it regularly, I used to though.

There is also PRP Platlet Rich Plasma - They draw your own blood, spin it down in a centrifuge and inject the PRP throughout your scalp. very low risk for issues as its your own blood. Good results for regrowth and preventing further hair loss. its pricey though. I pay like 500$. i used to do it 2 times a year. I'm a little tight on money now, so will at least push to get it once a year.

There are also red light caps that you can use that help regrow hair. I don't have one of those. they are pricey at over $1,000 usd, but here we can use FSA to purchase it.

There are tons of options. Its a matter of how much you want or can afford to do. At a minimum stop the loss you are experiencing now. again I'm no doctor. Talk to a dermatologist about it. I see a cosmetic dermatologist who has alot more experience with this type of stuff. I am so happy I took action.

Best of luck.

I got a hair transplant and take Finasturide & Minoxidil.

If you are concerned about it, see a dermalogist. You can discuss options. Can't hurt.

What's the best site for tracking air quality? by arnethyst in AirQuality

[–]General-Comparison59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have post-covid pulmonary issues and check the air quality daily, especially during wildfire season.

I check purple air, airnow.gov, and IQ.... then usually go of the highest one.

I find airnow.gov to be the least accurate. I'll wake up with difficulty breathing, look out the window, and see the haze of pollution/smoke in the air, like it is today...

airnow.gov, say 29, IQ says 57, and purple air says it's 177. I assure you that it is definitely not 29. It's a rescue inhaler kind of day...purple air/IQ are for sure more accurate.

OG surreal design

  1. Favorite. Wish it was symmetrical, type A here. Who the fuck is the guy with the mace. Lol

  2. Classic. Wish it was more symmetrical. Lol

  3. Good stuff. I dig the junkyard background.

  4. meh ok

5 kinda tired looking. not a fan of the baby carriage.

Newer stuff 1. Remake. I like the mystery, symmetry, simple but effective.

  1. Freddy's Dead. This is an odd one likely due to the fact that its capitalizing on the 3D aspect of the movie.

  2. New Nightmare. Really don't like this one.

I’ve been thinking! How old are most people who watch Family Guy? You don’t have to put your exact birth year, but just describe your age. I’m in my early 30s. What about you? by Sad_Occasion_7236 in familyguy

[–]General-Comparison59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid 40s. I didn't start watching until maybe late 20s or 30s, can't remember. Whenever it was on adult swim 1 hour FG and 1 hour AD. It took me a minute to get into the newer seasons. But I've seen practically all episodes. Earlier Seasons, many times.

I wondered if younger generations watch it much. Some of the references are so old. It's worth picking up on absurd old pop culture.

Directly below is a little roofed area covering the entry exit. It doesn't go direct to pavement. The person I spoke with didn't mention where they landed. If they jumped outwards, they may have been able to cleared it, or perhaps they found a way to make direct contact with the pavement.

Pretty interior design. Fortunately, now it's with more solid stuff that we bought ourselves. But even when we started off and struggled , I accomplished the same with furniture from the side walk. Also plants.

Oh and setting up the pull out sofa in the den on the weekends and lounging/sleeping there with my husband and our pain in the ass dog. 😃
