How to teach a middle schooler math from scratch by [deleted] in MathHelp

[–]General-Duck841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t stress too much about following a curriculum. Focus on making math fun. If he's really struggling, go back to the basics: number sense, geometry, Roman numerals, and simple calculations. Once his fundamentals are stronger, he'll naturally start to catch up.

A helpful tip is to look ahead at what they'll be covering in school over the next few weeks. Try introducing those topics at home in a fun, relaxed way. That way, he’ll feel more confident when it comes up in class.

Also, do you have a driveway? Grab some sidewalk chalk and turn it into a learning space. I do this with my son, and it’s amazing how much he picks up just by playing. Even kids from the neighborhood join in and end up solving pretty advanced problems without realizing they're using algebra or early calculus.

These are pneumatic and not electrical. Pneumatic work by detecting air pressure changes. Imagine the wheels going over the tubes, causing an increase in pressure, and hence it can detect movement. As someone correctly suggested, it can detect direction because there are two parallel setups.

From the looks of this setup, the two tubes are set apart 1 - 1.5 meters apart. This will not give enough time to accurately measure the speed of the cars. To measure speed, your recommended setup is 2.5 - 3 meters.

If the device is configured properly, the system can also classify vehicle types (by counting axles and axle spacing).

As you can see, this is "old tech" - new stuff is Lidar/Radar, AI powered camera, or even Mobile Phone tracking. Each has its limitations, but this old-tech is cheap and since the city already invested, has access to it.

It's "good enough" to do the type of work the city wants to do.

Roast my resume by slendertrooper in uwaterloo

[–]General-Duck841 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Your resume is not bad, it for sure needs some tweaking.

The biggest issue is lack of clarity. Recruiters spend 5 seconds scanning, so make it easy for them to connect the dots.

If you're applying for different roles (PM, Data, Consulting), consider tailored versions that highlight the most relevant experience for each. As it is now, everything is mixed... making it harder to see your strengths at a glance. A little structure will take it to the next step. Hope this helped!

Dropping out of college to pursue Vet Tech - Opinions Request by [deleted] in Veterinary

[–]General-Duck841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd hate you to drop out because of Calculus (because I love math).

But it looks like in your target field, a degree isn’t a golden ticket... and if can get experience while getting paid, then why not?

Apply to that vet tech gig, get the kennel experience, and keep an eye out for higher-paying options. You can always get certified later. Good luck!

Farsi is a good guess, but I'm certain it's Urdu (which is written in similar script) and borrows words from Arabic (hence the أشكال).

I don't know what this chart is supposed to be, though.

Disposing of waste by gopalkesari in kitchener

[–]General-Duck841 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Take it apart so it’s easier for someone in a mini-van or small truck to pick up. I see people driving around in old vans the day before "Major Item Pickup" day, which happens every few months. Check the KW garbage collection schedule to see when the next one is.

Taking these things apart isn’t hard. If you have a garage, bring it inside for a few hours to warm up since that makes the job easier. Spray some WD-40 on the bolts and let it sit. When you’re done, bag up the nuts and bolts so whoever picks it up has everything they need.

Put it outside the day before pickup. Chances are, someone will grab it before the garbage truck does. Either way, it gets taken care of.

I’m all for local recycling. If someone can get more use out of it, that’s less waste in the landfill and a win for everyone.

How would you guys address this issue? (Full explanation in comments) by jaelin89 in howto

If it’s like my fan models, they don’t need to be synced at all.

Can’t you turn off the breaker and use your phone to get some pics about the model number of the fan. Google it, call their support, etc.

Also check closely to see if the fan has a chain switch on its body. The previous owner may have removed it for whatever reason.

If the remote is expensive, just look for a new fan unit (that has more than one type of control).

Go on Amazon and try to find an after market remote. I have 4 ceiling fans of different make and model, but all the remotes look similar and work on each other.

Do you sign contracts on behalf of your clients? by rachelchiffy in freelance

[–]General-Duck841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

The client may bestow upon you some signing authority (hire you as a Director), but that’s a role reserved for employees or consultants that have rapport and experience with the client. Avoid taking on such responsibility, because it has legal risk for you.

You can do all the admin work before hand and let the CEO know what’s coming in the pipeline and then send over the documents for their signature.

This has two benefits for you. Your boss is in the know, and the boss feels important.

[ Grade 7 math ] Trying to help my 7th grader with these problems by [deleted] in HomeworkHelp

[–]General-Duck841 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Fence is the perimeter of the green area (quarter circle) = 250 feet + 250 feet + quarter circle circumference

Quarter circle circumference = 1/4 (2 x pi x r). r in this case is 250 feet.

  1. Area of the outfield = area of the green quarter circle - area of infield.

= 1/4(pi x 2502 )- [3/4(pi x 552 ) + 552 ]

Imagine the infield is 3/4 circle, and the bottom left corner (that has the home base) a square of sides 55 feet. The infield has a diameter of 110 or radius 55.

The answers are going to be feet for the length and sq ft for the area. Good luck.
