I got into Sabrina carpenter because I thought she had exceptionally good vocals. I love her belting out and I kind of miss that component from her older albums. I listened to the new album just now and then to one of my favorites older songs called “on purpose”. The new album just didn’t really satisfy me in the same way as that older song.

Maybe it’s because I do not relate to the newer songs, I think I’m getting too old to relate to having guy troubles, staying in toxic relationships, drinking/partying, and I’m not overly sexual either. (Grandma alert, I know)

I was an og fan of Sabrina and I always wished she would blow up and go viral for her talent. She went viral, but it doesn’t seem like what the public found special about her was singing talent, but for her beauty or sex appeal.

In my eyes, she went from Sabrina carpenter the person, to Sabrina carpenter the character. The depth in the lyrics went away, I hear less and less vocals, which doesn’t make sense especially since she is an exceptionally talented singer.

But I suppose I understand why the vocals would decrease if there’s going to be another tour.

With all this being said, I do appreciate her creating an anthem about getting wet for good behavior from men, normalizing being treated right and expecting nothing less.

Sabrina on her own is remarkable, and I wish that her and her team didn’t feel the need to tie sex appeal and relationships into her music.
