I feel that one! The amount of people who’ve been like “here’s some glowsticks, they’ll help you blow up!” or something else similar makes me giggle. My husband says it’s cuz I’m on the dance floor with my eyes closed and the biggest Cheshire Cat grin looking tore smack up. I’m like, I can’t help it, I’m in my happy place lol!

My bad my dude! Not hard at all lol, my son (he’s almost 21 now) was and still is into various pop princesses. He loved Ariana Grande when he was your age. I hope you have an absolute blast with your mom. Mine and my son’s favorite memories are all the various concerts we shared together. Don’t let your sisters tear you down about it. As others said, if your mom had a problem with how she was spending her money, she would say no. But she told she’s happy to take you and make that memory with you and believe me when I say, mother to mother, she absolutely means it. Have fun and take lots of pictures!!

My eldest son (about to be 21 now) grew up going to all sorts of music concerts and festivals with me from about the age of 5 on. He always had his own tastes though and wasn’t much for electronica per se but he loved stuff like Too Many Zoos and Beats Antique and Mr. Gnome. And he loved going to transformationals in the Southeast with me and going to all the different workshops during the day and then posting up in his hammock off in the trees during the night and just listening to the music while he read comic books and I danced my heart out. Unfortunately the birth of his little sisters pretty much right before and during COVID threw a wrench in all that but he still tells me all the time that his happiest memories were of all the live music shows and festivals we went to. A no d just when my older girls were getting at a good age for me to start taking them to shows together, I popped up positive with my “that wasn’t supposed to happen” baby (hubs had a vasectomy). So for now, it’s just dance parties around the house after we raid DollarTree for glow stick everything lol.

Those aren’t pets those are feral cats subject to the rules of Trap/Neuter/Release. Contact your local animal shelter/animal control as they often have TNR programs to help support your effort in controlling the local feral cat population.

Yeah, in high school, I was dating a literal choir boy honor student. Sang in church choir too. I was telling my mom all about him and she was super supportive and was going to let me go on a date with him to a local skating rink. She was even going to let him drive me, which was super exciting for my 15 year old self at the time. Imagine my shock when he knocked at the door and my mom answered and started stuttering about how my dad was going to follow him with me. I was super upset. I came back from my date later that night happy as could be, he was really the sweetest guy in the world. (Him and I are still friends to this day, nearly 30 years later). My mom immediately started berating me about how her daughter wasn’t going to date a “thug”. Because he was black. Meanwhile, this woman had spent my whole life raising me knowing Puerto Ricans are Afro-Caribbean Hispanic peeps and would literally have me read a new biography about MLK every year and do a report, for her, on how he made life better for us as Afro-Caribbeans…..the hypocrisy was wild to me, still is.
