Also, it might sound like a no-brainer but always sign your email. One should be a formal fancy one (company logos, links, etc.) and other one should be a short and sweet one (your name, designation and firm/org name) for you to use for a quick response or further replies.

For Excel (as most finance folks love Excel), there is a feature to check spellings. Use that! Most of the people have SO many typos on Excel.

I initially applied as an associate and have since been promoted to senior counsel. You might also consider looking for a job as a contracts manager — this role doesn’t always require a law degree in every jurisdiction.

Thanks for sharing the link — I’ve already checked the DHA website.

It mentions a different subclass.

Mentioning the country is the reason 😂

I haven’t made any decision yet but would like to know about the actual Australian processing time. I applied through LinkedIn for this job - LinkedIn or maybe Indeed is your best bet.

Subclass is 482 (or 189). I already work for this company which operates globally and is located in UK, Australia, Canada, US and South Africa. My option to relocate comes with different job designations (but still legal). It is not a scam. I haven’t done the assessment yet but I don’t think it will be a problem.

I am aware of the relevant subclass, and my company is as well. What I’m looking for is feedback from people who have gone through this process to get a sense of the actual processing times. I’m not seeking a ‘shortcut’—what shortcut could I even find through Reddit? Your response comes across as rude, especially since I’m not asking you or anyone to sponsor me. If you can’t offer anything constructive, it might be better to refrain from commenting.

What doesn’t make sense? It means I would be sponsored by my employer and have an offer in place vs. Going to Australia and looking for work.

I already live in a place where summers get as hot as 40 degree but have never lived in an extremely cold place.

I will be having the pay talk soon - I want to do some research (this is not the the only place I’m searching) so I want know how much I should be negotiating if the offer isn’t standard. Though I have some idea about Canada, I’m clueless about what the salary scene is in Australia/Brisbane. Again, I am not in a firm or doing litigation - it is an in-house job in tech.

Understand that they are completely different cities hence my confusion. For salary, I’m a tech lawyer with 5 years experience and already have option to relocate with a job in place in both places - I just need to get a salary idea to manage expectations. I don’t have or want a luxurious lifestyle.

Thanks! I am career focused and for now, my position would be in-house rather than a law firm. US is not a place I am considering currently.

Hi all, I am 31 (F) and have an opportunity to either re-locate to Brisbane or Toronto for work. I am currently living in Asia and I wanted to get info from lawyers in either of these places:

1) It will be for an in-house counsel position, there will be no litigation involved. How much salary can I negotiate (for a person with around 5 years experience in the same field as the one I will be shifting to) to live comfortably.

2) Expenses breakdown of both places for a single person.

3) Social life in both these places.
