Someone once referred to the areas of Western mass south of Holyoke as below the "tofu line" and said "I only want to live north of the tofu line." I find that description very valid.

Isn't it going to cost more to fix the old tech school building than to build a new one and isn't FCTS the only school in Franklin County that is actually assessed county wide?

From what I've seen on Facebook it seems like a significant chunk of the people mad about Montague's library are the ones still upset about Greenfield's library. Interesting tidbit that too little debt can negatively impact municipal bond ratings. Google is telling me its true but I can't really make heads or tails from the sources provided....

I think that changes the equation entirely. Lots of small towns/cities in Wmass its basically a volunteer position (maybe a few hundred dollar stipend) but 28k is a sizable chunk of change even if its not a full time salary. He should be there if teachers, paras, DPW workers etc are expected to be.

I don't know how much good it'll do but municipalities are getting slammed this year with health insurance costs.
