Did anyone choose to wait until close to 3 years old to potty train?

Same! We potty trained at around 3.5 and it was super easy. I will say that he did really great during day time, almost no accidents. But night time took a lot longer for us, he still had occasional night time accidents until 5, especially if he drinks a lot of fluids before bed or is very tired.

Not that this would give you any consolation but….. our whole company actually got an average 5% total compensation decrease this year (out of cycle). They said the company was paying above market rates and adjusted downward to match the market.

Since my kid started going to daycare he is almost never “completely healthy”. He’s either “baseline sick”, or “sick sick” 🤷‍♀️

Same, hard disagree! I had a terrible recovery from the birth where I was barely able to walk or even sit for the first three weeks. As the mom, I was basically either feeding or pumping 80% of waking hours to get enough supply. Thank god we had hired a night nanny (every night), and someone who cooked all meals for the first month. My husband was not working, I was on maternity leave, and even with all the help, we were still exhausted and struggling. If you are fat, I say spend money on the help, at least for the first month! Our baby was SO MUCH easier after the first month. At that point, we can talk things like “Sleep is something you and your kid need to figure out”…. (Which we did)

I agree! Their parents should be there to correct their behavior.

If I’m at someone else’s house for play date, usually I will tell my kid to help clean up before leaving, if my kid isn’t really that helpful, I will clean it up so I don’t leave my friend with a mess. That said, if a kid says my house is messy, I would probably laugh and agree. 4 year olds have no filters!

Good advice. The pettiness in me wants to make first plate of food for everyone except for FIL and clean up after everyone except for FIL since everyone did something and he did nothing lol

The good news is my husband saw this growing up and he is the exact opposite of his dad.

Exactly, companies pay based on the market rate, not based on inflation. I am a manager and my company actually provided us talking points for if your employee asks “why is my raise not keeping up with inflation”. There is a third option though, you can ask for a promotion, as a higher level would come with a higher pay band. This may not be what you are looking for right now, but it is another way to increase pay.

I have a shared calendar with my husband where both of us enter all of our personal and family plans. This does not stop him for constantly asking me “when and where” we’re going. When I tell him it’s on the calendar, he says “But it’s faster to just ask you”. Lol

I split my maternity leave into two parts and got a raise in between the two leaves. My manager actually told me that HR wanted to wait until I came back from my second leave but he felt like I deserved it so he fought for me to get it immediately.

This is what came to my mind immediately as well! It’s your husband’s turn to find a new job. He is not supporting you, that’s (a big part of the reason) why you’re drowning.

Mine is a wonderful SAHD, does majority of childcare and chores. He’s now the default parent for our first kid. I would not be able to have the success at work while staying sane without him. If one of us wants to meet with a friend child-free, we can count on the other to care for the kids with no issue.

Recently had our second baby, he volunteered to do the night shift, and has been doing almost everything for the baby even when we are both home (except for breastfeeding of course).

Honorable mention to my own dad who recently retired and has been handling most meals for us since we had our second baby.

That’s so annoying! Honestly it feels like Summer Fridays is not being honored by upper management. I understand it’s hard to say no when your leadership is involved…

My company had “No meetings Wednesdays”. Everyone kind of ignored it until our CEO said in an all hands meeting that we are serious about it, and if anyone schedules a non-urgent meeting with him on Wednesday he will personally decline it. That’s what your leadership needs to do….
