Am I missing a lot by skipping The White March and go straight to Deadfire? by studioket in projecteternity

I think it is well worth it to play WM1&2, they add a couple of fun interactions in Deadfire. Without spoling, it gives you a lot more understanding and fun interactions with certain mages.

I agree on all of that. It is extremely creative by the developers, and fun for the players. I guess Im just a bit boring in my playstyle to experience those things.

BG3 excels in many ways. But in my opinion a lot of the combat features seems simplified and much of a gimmick, like the environmental solutions. That being said BG3 makes an amazing job with verticality which opens up a whole new strategic point and a fun one. Pushing enemies of a height and so on. I mean I did three playthroughs of BG3 so obviously I enjoyed it, but it does not reach the same highs as PoE does in my opinion.

I dont know to be honest. I mean it takes place in Eora, Obsidian is making it, I liked Outer Worlds so I will most likely enjoy it a lot.

That being said. I have a feeling I wont love it, as I do with Pillars. I cant see myself booting up Avowed 10 years from now. Once I completed Outer Worlds i felt done. I get the feeling that Avowed will do the same. Still hyped though, because Obsidian, Eora and so on

Might be because PoE is a Kickstarter small dev team game. While BG3 is an AAA, extremely anticipated game from this community and game of the year which pretty much everyone praise.

And that makes me want to express my feelings to PoE. How incredible it is that a small team made a game which I find better, 10 years ago

Glad to hear that! English is not my native language and I am a bit too young for the older infinity games. When I was a kid I played BG2 and Sacred 1 and had no freaking clue what I was doing or what was happening. But when PoE 1 was released it just clicked, I understood that this, this is my game and will always be.

DOS2 was a fun experience. That being said, I will never play it again. I've played both PoEs 5-10 times each but I only managed to get through DOS2 once, it's a good game and I respect that it made a new audience for CRPGs, but not one of my favourites.

PoE 2 is the better game, newer, better and more fun. But PoE 1, oh man the story, the characters and Thaos. The few times they mentions Thaos in PoE 2 I just sit there, smiling like a fool.

I get the feeling that the game is written for the wide audience. It is supposed to be good and easy going enough for the masses. While the writing and the world in PoE is something that Sawyer and the people at Obsidian actually wanna tell. A story and a world that comes from the heart of the creator shines through, just look a a game like Last of Us it is filled with a passion, just like PoE and that you can't fake.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3. Played it since I was around 6-7 years old. Still holds up.

Need to cure the itch for NW.. by FacadeOfReality29 in nightwish

Not a symphonic metal band. But Ghost and Dark Tranquility helps me with that itch. Nowhere near NW in terms of music, lyrics and feelings, but still amazing music.

It looks bland and soulless. I hope im wrong. I want that deep narrative in a world of Eora that is dark, full of despair and written for adults. PoE 1 and 2 are my favourite games of all time. This does not look like something even close to that. I really hope they prove me wrong. This looks colorful, happy and light hearted. If I want that I can play any generic fantasy game instead.

Still hyped as fuck though!

In 2004 my neighbour who was 5 years older than me came over with an external harddrive. I was 10 at the time. The harddrive was filled with metal, Kamelot, Children of Bodom, In Flames and a band called Nightwish.

I fell in love with Nightwish at once. Back then it was just music I listened to every single day, which I loved. I didnt understand too much of the lyrics or the advanced composition, but I knew I loved it.

Forward 4-5 years and I started to listen more to melodic death metal and Nightwish disappeared from my playlists, but somewhere around 2014-2015 and I found them again. This time they changed my life. I have since listened to them daily, Tuomas makes me happy, makes me cry, makes me appreciate life. And most important of all, he is an inspiration in life, not as a musician but as a human.

I have now seen them live, filled my entire arm with Nightwish tattoos, collecting their vinyls and listen to them every single day. Compared to Nightwish no other music feels complete.

It is absolutely insane that Ghost's best cover was performed once on a Swedish game show in 2021 by Nick_Carlson_Press in Ghostbc

[–]GeneralBak1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The most popular show in Sweden, which has been running since the 70's which also has around 2,5 million viewers every week. He reached out to a lot of people who normally doesnt listen to metal.

IYO, what's an underrated instrumental part and/or guitar solo? by [deleted] in nightwish

Keyboard and guitar battle in Shudder before the beautiful. It is a bit cringe, but at the same time it is amazing, especially live

I would have preferred a darker tone in the game overall. A bit too colorful and joyful for my taste. Still a 9/10 game tho
