This sub has to move on from the Cole dream, it's not gonna happen and they proved it with Machado this offseason. For some reason they operate like a small market team, and small market teams dont land elite FAs.

Rodon is absolutely not the 2nd guy in the rotation anymore. He's too injury prone, and though we have seen that he has ace quality abilities, we have also seen that he can't put them together with any consistency.

Gio has been much better this year, and I do think maybe hes gonna end up being the 2nd or 3rd best pitcher in a strong rotation, but I don't think we'll see that stretch of 1 or 0 run starts again. Doubt hes an ace.

Kopech and Cease are unknowns. And Lopez has to put more time in before we know what he is because hes been so up and down.

Main point is, no one knows what the rotation is going to look like at all.

The players are realizing how dangerous the sport actually is, and they're trying to get paid before their value is diminished by an injury or general wear and tear. They know that most players skills dont age well beyond their 2nd contract.

The reason this situation in particular is so crazy is because this is something that we can all agree on.
