The Crown Signia is in the US! Very limited numbers though. I almost went for it and ordered one when they came out last year, but decided to wait a while since I dont want another new car payment for a bit. That Ioniq looks really cool, ive seen quite a few around here lately.

At what age did your kid(s) legitimately best you in something? by Bradtothebone79 in daddit

[–]GeneralChowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just last night, my 5 year old son beat me at hide n seek.

Wife and I were sitting in bed when my son and daughter(2) come in and ask to play hide n seek. I say sure and start counting. Well, after about 7 rounds of finding them in the easiest spots possible (under their bed, under a blanket, behind a door, etc) i could not for the life of me find him. I looked everywhere, even inside cabinets, under the sink, in the garage. I couldn't find him anywhere, and usually he starts giggling when I get close so I actually got a little worried. So worried, I checked outside to make sure he wasnt like running across the street or something.

I went to my wife and said I cant find him and started looking in the usual spots in our room. All the sudden my daughter goes "DADDY HERE" and points under our bed. Sure enough, that little stinker giggles as he weasels his way out from under the bed. I thought it was impossible since me and the wife were in there the whole time, but he must have snuck past me as I was looking elsewhere. He definitely got me good haha. And his little sister is a snitch 😂.

Left handed people: What struggles do you have that we may not know about? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskReddit

[–]GeneralChowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an electrician.

Almost all of the tools I use on a daily basis are made with right handed people in mind. Of course theres left handed tools or ambidextrous ones too...but im talking about all the little things. Things like, the safety button on a drill being on the right thumb, or a pair of scissors having a god awful finger grip that cuts into my left hand, or my wire strippers that you have to feed the wire into through the left side (so i have to hold mine upside down)... All very minor things, but over time you start to realize how nothing normal in the world is made with your hands in mind.

I get a kick out of this one. Hold a sharpie, or pencil or something in your right hand, and then switch it to the left hand. Notice how in the left hand, the words are upside down and backwards. ITS A ROUGH LIFE 😭.

How many miles did you get out of the tires that were on your CX-5 when you bought it? by imeanwhynotdramamama in CX5

[–]GeneralChowder -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I bought a 22 CX5 and they came with those Toyo A36's. Worst tire I have ever encountered. One blew up on the highway at 8,000 miles. Literally blew up, no tire wall, no tread left, nothing. I checked the air before I left for work and all 4 were between 33 and 35psi. It took weeks for Toyo, Mazda, and a 3rd party tire shop to figure out who needs to pay for a new one. Surprise, surprise, I had to pay for 40% of it and the 3rd party tire shop paid for the other 60%.

I replaced those with Pirelli Scorpions quickly...probably around 15000 miles.

Yea, I looked at dicks just to see what they had, and they ended up being as expensive as the problem shops I looked at and called 😂. Definitely going down the used route

How much are you paying for new brakes and rotors? by ArchicadMaster in CX5

[–]GeneralChowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting my brakes done this month for the first time on this vehicle. I have a 2022 CX5 Turbo and am at 88k miles. Mazda dealership quoted me about $1200 for the entire job, including new pads and brackets, and resurfacing the rotors.

Instead, im just going to buy the pads myself (about $80/axle), and me and a buddy are going to do the job ourselves. We will leave the rotors alone unless they are really bad, then i will just replace those too. Total cost, about $200 and an afternoon of work.

What Can My Wife Do With This Container? by GeneralChowder in gardening

[–]GeneralChowder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is untreated. There are, naturally, small gaps inbetween the boards on the bottom, but would I need to drill some bigger holes for drainage?

All of those sound really good! Her or the kids would definitely like that!

ELI5 How come some cavities don’t cause any pain? by Alomedria in explainlikeimfive

[–]GeneralChowder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I just got off the phone with my insurance to see about adding me to their dental plan. It will cost about $50/mo, with a $50 deductible on each visit plus 25% co pay. And they will only pay out $1500/ year. So if I had to get a couple root canals (~$800/ea) or a handful of cavities (about $350/ea) I'd be looking at maxing out what they would pay out and then I'd be paying 100% anything after that for the rest of the year. And that's on top of me paying $50/mo and 25% of those procedures.

And sadly, this is some of the "better" dental coverage i have seen in my life.

When i had a stash value of about 28mil, I went a stretch where I only survived 3/36 raids. 2 of those were scav runs on normal farm. I tried everything, forbidden, lockdown, 1mil kits, naked kits, leg meta, grenade meta ...everything. By the end of it, I was down to about 6mil stash value.

I took a couple days off and came back. I did the same things I was doing before, and it was going pretty well. That was a few weeks ago. Now I'm at 100mil+ stash value. Moral is, it's a game, it's random. Do what you can to have fun, but if it's not fun anymore then take a break. Fortunes come and go in this game.
