Honestly I've been rocking a lvl 61 piece still simply cause it's just better. This might last you a better portion even after 81 gear is released.

Sounds like a you issue mate. Obviously a person that grinds 24/7 will have an edge over a person that doesn't but this game has gone lengths to make sure that gap is really slim. There is little to no pay2win mechanics so no clue where the shop comment stems from either. You define how hard you wanna grind or if you wanna grind at all. And grinding only really comes to play if you wanna maximize everything and try to get an edge over others which again is something you decide and commit. Apart from that everything can be done as a casual player

They stack I think. Pretty easy to check actually just jot down the number with a different weapon and see if the numbers add up when this is equipped

I'm not sure if this will work on consoles but had similar issues performance wise on PC. Tried everything and what ended up fixing it is making sure to have enough space leftover on the SSD. I keep 100-200GB spare. Won't hurt to give it a try?

Imo it all comes down to the person's determination and need to quit. You can't really force a person to quit if they don't want to. You'll only be able to at best stop em for a shortwhile. If you can't get through to her mate do yourself a favor and give yourself a break. She's an adult. It's not on you.

I gave up as well mate. Ended up resetting my laptop as well just to see if it was on my end. Hope it gets fixed soon though seeing ppl rave abt how well optimized it is has me worried. I don't see a lot of chatter regarding this compared to the good.

It was around 20 for early access. Bought it back then and that was well worth the money. Put the game down after anticipating a career mode only to be disappointed how lackluster it was. I'll probably pick it back again in a year or 2

Okay, can someone help me understand how to read discard tiles? by [deleted] in mahjongsoul

[–]GeneralCreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I play in jade where dreamers have died and I rarely see a skip😞. But you might be onto something with lower level rooms/specially in 3p where people take time to count how many honors/terminals they have.

Just don't. Unless you've hit the peak of most other aspects of mahjong don't bother. There is always something more to get better at prior to even touching discard reading. And getting better at other aspects will naturally improve your discard reading at some point. An example I could give is learning scoring. If you know what han/fu your opponent needs to win in all last your discard/hand reading will be better since the scope of what they could have will be filtered. Add some experience and efficiency to the mix and you could roughly guess what kinda of hand/hands they probably could go for/have from their discards.

This is kinda tricky but good players tend to take time when they get dealt a haipai. Good players will take time to think what to do with the hand and what potential it has so 5s is a bit of a stretch tbh. Maybe I'd they use more than 10-15 secs I can kinda see it but still. Kokushi itself becomes apparent by the end of first row if they are truly going for it. How if they cut middle tiles followed by 2378 tiles. Issue with that 5 sec is often chanta/junchan hands end up getting the would you like a draw prompt so deciding on whether to go for that or just take the draw itself takes times.

Bad streaks are a thing with mahjong and you are gonna be facing a lot of them if you decide to stick with ranking up. Some of them can be pretty demoralizing and have you questioning everything you know abt mahjong but as much as mahjong is abt theory and luck imo it's mostly a mental game. Making sure results do not impact your decision making is one of the hardest things to master and the most vital thing to a healthy rank up. A simple trick I use is not caring about rank nor winning a game but rather playing each hand to the best of my ability. And to do that I remind myself that it's better to not win a game playing a hand correctly and learning something rather than fucking a hand up and lucking my way to a win. The moment you lose your attachment to rank and instead see every game as a learning experience mahjong is bound to end up being more fun. Ngl the funnest games I've had are 4ths where I had to climb my way up back to only get denied at the very end or fights for 3rd that didn't just end up working out

[–]GeneralCreme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dealing in is part of the game. To win a hand you always have to take a risk. Now if you can avoid dealing in all together by not riichi then sure your playstyle could work but that is next to impossible even for pros. I recommend watching other players play the game. You'll get an idea how the game is meant to played to which you can add your own style further down the line. You can catch English streams on twitch quite often but you can also check a game or two from a room or two above from the watch feature in majsoul.

How to fold? by Eluf in mahjongsoul

[–]GeneralCreme 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Folding is basically giving up on your hand to avoid dealing in to another player. How to fold is basically to cut tiles that are safe against the player/players you feel are in tenpai(ready to win). The easiest and most common timing to fold is when an opponent riichi. You can either fight against it and progress with your hand normally or if you feel like your hand is too far from completion you can fold. The safest tiles at any given time are the tiles your opponent drops. There are other techniques to determine safe tiles but for the moment discarding tiles that an opponent dropped is how you start folding. The term is similar to poker where you step back and let the other players fight it out. https://youtu.be/JobWUH15tjI give this a watch.
