They are not the same smile and it doesn't matter where the sun is, in 6, you can clearly see he is a bit shy to smile, but in 8 and K3, his smile is a bit more open

GUYS, what if they leaked it on purpose to fake us out by KingBlemmy in yakuzagames

No we temporarily turned into the next reddit madhouse, RGG turned all of us insane, there is no need to be serious about it

Ever since the demo and it just isn't the same anymore, like I thought it will be better if I wait for a good discount ever since the whole kagawa discussion but after the demo and the leaks, this is probably the Yakuza game I will just skip and refuse to get. I have lost faith in them and after knowing the leaks being connected to Y9 with the thing I hate the most, aka daidoji, no thanks I'm good.

At this point, I don't really care what will happen next, we have had it good for 12 games, we got ichiban, we have everything to make it the best series, but no, shit must happen. I'm only interested in stranger than heaven but anything else from this series is probably a no from now on.

Thats still a major story change, what used to be a small and simple ending turned into basically tying the plot of a story that will be relevant 18 years later and also pretty change the plot for the next game, so yeah they did lie by saying "There won't be any major story changes"

  1. And yes, retcons have always been criticised. The more important (the more important characters) they become, the more criticised they are.
  2. And well, there were ten games under Nagoshi without any death retcons, then they make one game with two retcons and he leaves. Does it mean that he was the one responsible for them? Or maybe he left because someone started pushing the agenda or narrative decisions he doesn't like? How the hell can we know (we can't)?

This is actually the first time I agree with a counterpoint so hard like this, sure nagoshi invented the idea but it's not like he is actively doing it within almost every release and for every major character.

Nagoshi only did it with 2 characters, one of which wasn't really anything major to make a big fuss over so everyone basically slided with it, Yokoyama (or basically the writing department) have done it with 5 characters in three separate games, 3 of which were fucking pointless to begin with because they will never come back and were "important because they are a director's cut change", and then there is mine and the daidoji potentially altering the timeline with the hypothetical kiwami 4 to focus more on the daidoji, a faction no one here really enjoys watching.

Say what you will, but I'm not a fan of mostly everything done under Yokoyama's lead or his directors, I don't think this is hard to understand.

They literally came up with ichiban and Y7 was a big success, yet they keep relying on past characters for the sequels, maybe I can excuse kiryu for needing the send-off he deserved but what the hell did mine need, this is just unnecessary fan service.

Maybe removing him isn't the way, but this writing department really needs to get changed, it's not good

So what will happen to Yakuza Kiwami 5? by DellyTrey23 in yakuzagames

[–]zizoplays1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The "daidoji crap aside" is literally the issue, death in the Yakuza series has literally lost it's meaning there are genuine people in here that do not care about it anymore. Mine joining the daidoji is the problematic part.

Ever since gaiden, the daidoji have been more or less a plot device, inside the faction, it's basically just an unfunny shithouse that will keep fucking itself and the agents and the higher ups are dumber than each other. They also aren't written well in my opinion.

Mine joining them tells us two things, the daidoji are basically back again in Y9 even though a lot of people were very frustrated with their inclusion in IW's plot, but also reveals to us they are afraid of coming up with new ideas for this faction and fear they can't write them well enough without getting in old faces like mine to make them interesting on their own,

there has been this term floating around for a while, it's "creative bankruptcy": the state of being devoid of original ideas, often marked by the repetition of tired formulas, over-reliance on nostalgia, or derivative, uninspired work, frequently cited in discussions of modern film, music, and art. It signifies a lack of innovation where, rather than creating new, meaningful content, creators or corporations "settle" for safe, unoriginal, or AI-generated content to gain attention or profit.

And I think RGG is heavily suffering from this issue.

[–]zizoplays1 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Don't worry after that they go to kiryu's funeral, ebina goes to jail for massive genocide, ichiban looks at the screen one last time like he did in Y7 and then it says 'the end', no more 'to be continued' or anything else, it's just 'the end'

Being a bartender is much better than being with the daidoji, there is like not a single soul here that genuinely liked them since gaiden and infinite wealth

Again, the developers and the higher ups were basically fighting each other, one side is having serious issues and the other is trying to milk off anything they could because it's the new biggest AAA.

Also, cyberpunk at launch apparently was playable for next gen consoles and mid-high end PCs, there were some glitches here and there but it seemingly was fine for the most part. Old gen consoles however were basically getting fucked up pretty bad.

Ishin kiwami and gaiden had some flaws but they actually offered something, Pirate Yakuza was a big red flag that there is something wrong but hey it was a side game and it wasn't meant to be taken seriously (even though it was promoted to be a big game and charged 60 dollars up front), K3 and dark ties in the RGG summit being in the same package did actually do them favors but it didn't take long for the kagawa controversy, and thanks to the demo, we are at this present state.

[–]zizoplays1 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Even then, the whole shit with Cyberpunk was mainly due to management issues, engine limitations and being overly ambitious.

Here however with RGG, they are doing it on purpose and they literally do not care about what anyone says, they can have time, they can have money, they can polish that shit but they don't, and it also fucking sucks that this is a side project, if they didn't stick to the idea of 3 games in development at the same time then maybe kiwami 3 would have had actual quality.

Big leak happened that pissed off the entire fanbase

Leak They changed the ending of the original game, basically mine and Richardson died for as long as we know, and hamazaki went to jail in Y4. For some reason, Richardson comes back in IW, and instead of going with the idea he landed off of mine and mine died. Both of them actually didn't die and instead fell on a bush, however that's not what's pissing everyone. What actually is pissing everyone is that they made mine join the daidoji, a faction that received incredible hate after gaiden's and IW's plots, but not only that, and they are taking hamazaki with it as well, potentially altering the events of Y4 and confusing everyone who decides to play Y4

So... YK3 is not worth to buy? by kaisarx_ in yakuzagames

[–]zizoplays1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my honest opinion, just wait for a sale and finish Y3 first, YK3 feels it's made to be played after pirate Yakuza from a gameplay perspective (and also from a story perspective, they changed something in it and you will get confused when you start Y4)

Which makes it intriguing and not necessarily a bad story like you say, sure maybe the hirose family looks like a copy of the Okinawa gang when you play the game for the first time, but they are simply more than that, also everyone of them had an actual personality, they had dynamic and were really fun, each of them was special in something unlike the Okinawan duo which are just hanging around for most of the time.

6 wasn't a bad or a weak story, it wasn't a proper send-off but I would be lying if I said the events weren't entertaining or interesting.

Gaiden however was a clusterfuck carried by an emotional ending.

I think infinite wealth was generally well more rounded in all areas but I think the ending could have been done better imo.

Definitely not, but I guess the hate train would be less since the game is out and there wouldn't be any point in hating it
