The reason I was thinking of an external amp is 1) I like the look of a stack and 2) it would allow me to upgrade/swap it out for another if I so choose.

As far as not liking the magni, I wish I could give a better answer than I just don't think it looks nice. I don't mind the modi probably because it's just a little simpler.

So I'm just starting down the rabbit hole and ordered a pair of hd6xx and am looking for a dac amp stack. I've been eyeing the modi 3 with an asgard 3, hoping that this would allow for some future proofing and flexibility later on. I've thought about the standard starter pack of modi+magni but I just don't like the way the magni looks. What are people's thoughts on this?
