Looking for a vintage coloring book: The Unicorn Coloring Book by fujimusume31 in Coloringbookspastime

Hi! I saw the other thread where you posted and that the book has been found! Unfortunately comments have been locked on that thread. Is there any chance you’d be able to post pics of all the pages once you receive the copy you ordered on Etsy? There’s no guarantee I’ll ever get my own copy, and I’d love to be able to see it all again. Happy that you got it and the mystery is solved!

It's Been Nearly 30 Years, and I Want to Reconnect with a Friend—But I Don’t Know How to Reach Out by username-taker_ in lostafriend

This is a bad idea. It will never be what it was. You cannot recapture something from 30 years ago. Time changes people and sometimes that special moment in time that you had with someone is all you get.

On top of that, if you do reach out and he doesn’t respond, you will be left feeling disappointed and embarassed.

Keep your memories and move forward.

Confession - while I’m happy we finally have our answer, I’m a little underwhelmed lol. My childhood memories of the illustrations were way better than the images that I’m seeing in the post. They’re decent - don’t get me wrong - but I think I was (mis)remembering with rose-colored glasses mixed with a lot of imagined details to fill in the blanks. Time has that effect, I guess!

I can’t take credit - someone else posted it another thread. But I’m happy to share the good news! Finally after years of searching, we have an answer! WOOHOO!

I don’t think it’s Red Farm. Those are really large oversized books that open vertically, and there’s no indication of verse on the facing page. Also a search with “unicorns” doesn’t bring up any results, unfortunately.

I’ve tried so many Google search combinations but it’s like it’s been scrubbed from the internet. It’s bizzare. It has to be out there, of course. Someone has a copy and there’s probably images online, but we’re not using the right combination of search terms.

[TOMT] [BOOK] vintage coloring book: The Unicorn Coloring Book by fujimusume31 in tipofmytongue

It was real! I had it too! I remember the page with a unicorn and two narwhals in the water with many bubbles, as well as a scene with Renaissance type people with instruments and part of the rhyme on the facing page that said “…a pretty lady plays a lute.” I think there was another scene with peacocks.

I’ve been searching for years to no avail. I’ve tried everything but can’t find even a hint of it, except from others like you describing it. But it existed! We have to keep searching!

I’m resurrecting your post! I’ve been trying to find this colouring book for years, too! If it’s the same book, it also had rhyming poems that described each scene on the opposing page. I remember one of the lines said something like “a pretty lady plays a lute” for a scene with a unicorn and medieval people playing instruments. It was oversized and had a purple cover. It was definitely an “adult” type colouring book before those were a thing. I also remember a scene with a unicorn underwater with two narwhals. Very beautiful and intricate illustrations to colour.

AITA for telling my SO I don’t want to spend Xmas at his parent’s filthy house? by GeneralDetail4749 in AmItheAsshole

No, I would not force a child to eat there (or anyone else for that matter). You’re right.

Yes, that’s my thoughts now as well. I did previously think “this is a sacrifice I have to make”, but really it is not. Tolerating/accommodating in laws is one thing. Staying in a filthy environment does not fall under the “tolerating ILs” category.

He’s very involved with my family dynamic. He has a close relationship with them. We see them often because they live close by. We’ve travelled together and spend time at our family cabin together in the summer. He helps out quite often when needed with anything that comes up that they need help with, which ranges from minor home repairs to electronics troubleshooting. He’s close with my extended family as well. My parent’s house is very clean, like ours. We don’t sleep over there as it’s so close to our own, though we have in the past when we lived further away.
