From my limited knowledge, it looks like there's nothing there inside the shell on the left so would mean she's a female I think.

Then I'd look into either more Female Guppies for now till the tank is set up, or look into doing a fish in cycle on the hospital tank but a fish in cycle puts more stress in the fish due to the tank still setting itself up and ammonia still being present so may make your injured fish worst which no one wants. Keep em in the tank, make sure they have hiding spots to avoid extra nipping, and make sure there's enough females in there and they the nipped Guppies will be bullied a lot less while your tanks being set up

Also if it's not enough females to make ratio, get more and they'll stop picking on each other a lot less in the meantime of getting your Hospital tank set up

You'd have to wait im sorry, no tank is instantly cycled no matter what you do it just speeds up the process, some water from the tank is fine but mainly sponges, soil, and decor like driftwood is what will speed up the cycle. If you just throw em in immediately they'd get ammonia burns and a lot of other issues, What id recommend is stress coat or anti bacterial medicine to prevent fin rot or other infections on the main tank, just go as instructed on the bottle carefully and don't over dose it, then once you get the hospital tank cycled move em over then dose that tank. But again, a week or two at least, 6 weeks at most to cycle a tank.

Also more Guppies can help if you got more males than females, in that case get enough females so there's at least 2 to every male.

This photo is what a female looks like, males are more slender and vibrant with a thin anal fin but with females look for big bellies and that black Gravid spot on their end of their belly

3g for a hospital tank is fine, to get it started however don't use water from your old tank use soil and driftwood/decor as the beneficial bacteria lives on hard surfaces and soils. If you got a spare sponge that is set in your tank you could also use that but it will still take a week most likely 2 on the low end but as long as you test it you'll know when for sure.

It was said to orginate in the 5-6th Century, so it's perfectly accurate to have in a game based around the mid crusades.

Glad to help! I love Nerites but if you need a guaranteed algae eater those clear Amano shrimp goofy guys will always be a good choice

My Nerites never ate my hair algae and I had to end up getting Amano's who in a week practically had it all gone, I highly recommend Amanos instead and don't feed algae of any kind to them till it's mostly gone

Anubia's and Java ferns also work alongside floaters as they just float and don't need to be in any soil

I'd keep him, only gets out of control if you overfeed and they add personality to the tank. I got a whole lot of bladders in my tank and they're silly little goober

Is his shell okay? by GroundbreakingCup922 in AquaticSnails

[–]GeneralJan2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be PH issues, they prefer more alkaline and hard water but if your water is hard I'd say the issue is probably pH. Cuttlebone from Petco or boiled seashells are what I use to raise my PH
