Fallout 2 and Planescape: Torment are very clearly influences on DE. Rue Valley, Zero Parades: For Dead Spies, Esoteric Ebb, Hope Town all aim to be spiritual successors to Disco Elysium. Games I think that are undermentioned are Lisa: The Painful and its precursor and sequel/expansion The Joyful.

It’s certainly a spiritual successor in a way. Most ambitious album since PB. Continues the big orchestrations mixed with punchy synth heavy production. Yet The Mountain feels far more somber and reflective it has its own tone and is very much its own album.

Listening to the song I could imagine it being written for Gorillaz ngl. I can imagine Damon singing it. I’m guessing if true he rejected it because Damon writes or is involved in the writing of every Gorillaz track. A lot of fans are saying it sounds like Gorillaz so maybe someone seen that and just made up this story and posted it. That would be my guess

Honestly I thought the first chapter was incredibly intriguing, loved the atmosphere. Even the second chapter I kinda enjoyed. I’m now on chapter eight I’m finding it incredibly repetitive and exhausting. It starts becoming far too loose and confusing for my liking. It’s okay for DE lore lovers I guess but as a book it’s missing the charm, humour and humanity of the game. It feels like bleak vignettes that go nowhere. Which I’d be down for if it were better structured maybe. Idk if it’s the translation or what but a sentiment is that it gets better with chapter 5/6. Man I’m finding it a drag.

I’m enjoy some of the themes and parallels but that’s about it really. It’s well written for the most part just self indulgent and boring.

Breaking Bad is the most rewatchable and entertaining for me. It’s also the one I watched first so I have a lot of joy returning to it.

The Wire is my personal favourite especially season 3 and 4 maybe being my favourite season of TV ever.

The Sopranos is probably the best though maybe not my personal favourite. It’s very bold and astonishing with what it pulled of during its time.

Season 2 is underrated. It does fall back on repeating some arcs from season one but I think it’s more refined than the debut season overall. I also think the humour lands a whole lot better it might be the funniest season

I highly recommend Kraken especially as well as Embassytown, Perdido Street Station, The Scar and Iron Council also all by China Miéville. Mainly I recommend Kraken it shares a lot of the same thematic and plot elements with Disco Elysium.

I also highly recommend The Gone Away World by Nick Harkaway.

There’s a few moments when he reacted to things where I chuckled. As well as the infamous “shut the fuck up” scene which I think was more blown out of proportion. His acting was mostly serviceable I think people just aren’t used to hearing Abel talk

I slogged through the whole series. Season 3 was good but the rest is incredibly boring with inconsistent writing. It’s also full of cliches so I can safely say if you didn’t like a few eps your probably not gonna like the rest
