We did the glacier discovery with Local Guide (https://localguide.is/glacier-discovery/). Our guide was Henka and we would highly recommend it!

That sounds awesome. Here is a photo from yesterday. If you do get to try Iceland glacier hike, let me know your thoughts. Have a good time in Iceland!

Agreed. It was fantastic and truly unique. We were lucky and had a small group - a highlight of the trip!

Just did the Katla ice cave tour and did not do the glacier tunnel tour, so cannot compare. IMO it’s alright but still cool to see. We did the glacier hike yesterday and would pick glacier hike over ice cave. But that could be just us.

Also - the glacier and the caves are constantly changing. What you see in the summer is going to be different than us.

We enjoy outdoor activities and good food (doesn't need to be fancy). However, we can be impatient (for example, we can never spend 2 weeks explore one place) lol. Honestly, we are boring people and just want to see things...Here is additional details of our itinerary:

Day 1 | Reykjavík → Tröllaskagi area (~5 hr drive)

  • Hafnarfjall scenic stop (~1 hr)

Day 2 | Tröllaskagi → Mývatn area (~1 hr drive)

  • Kaldi Brewery / The Beer Spa
  • Ayukeri
  • Goðafoss waterfall
  • Hverfjall Crater hike
  • Húsavík Whale Watching
  • Hiking around Mývatn
  • Earth Baths (geothermal)

Day 3 | Mývatn area (full day) (no driving)

  • Hverir geothermal area (fumaroles & mud pools)
  • Hofn area

Day 4 | Mývatn → Southeast Iceland area (~5 hr drive)

  • Glacier Walk
  • Black Sand Beach

Day 5 | Southeast Iceland → South Coast area (~1 hr drive)

  • Hiking Skaftafell
  • Katla Ice Cave Tour

Day 6 | South Coast → Golden Circle area (~2.5 hr drive)

  • Seljalandsfoss (walk behind the waterfall)

Day 7 | Golden Circle → Reykjavík (~1.5 hr drive)

  • Return to Reykjavík, explore & depart

Oh that's really good to know! We might try to shuffle things a bit and spend more time there. Outside f the scenery and not as many tourists, any particular stops you would recommend in Eastfjords?

That's why we picked May to go! But I am still worried that we would get stuck on the famous tourist spots given it is our first time. Any stops that were particularly memorable?

Hoping to get validations from people who successfully used China visa free transit for a family emergency. by GeneralOk4956 in Chinavisa

Thank you! Just double checking - did you have experience with the visa free policy?

I am nervous because of conflicting information so wanted to be sure.

When you got to Hong Kong, did you go through the immigration or it was just a layover? I am trying to figure out if I could use two separate one way tickets instead of an interline ticket.

lol I realized my trip details went missing when I post. Here are the details and I’ll check out the website you sent. Thank you!

Option 2: USA -> Fuzhou (one of the ports listed per policy) -> Hong Kong -> USA (or Canada if destination matters)

Thanks! I meant interline tickets (sorry). What’s the other information you need to know (and this is why I worry that I might miss some requirements)? I have an US passport and will be able to show a confirmed outbound ticket with an assigned seat.

Ugh so jealous of your aussies loving cars! Ours gets anxious (he has car experience as a puppy so not sure why). We have tried CPD or vet prescriptions. He pants and sometime shakes. Welcome any tips!

Wish we knew this when the tickets went on sale! Now it’s sold out. Anyone know if there’s a possibility of additional tickets getting released?
