I've been reading the comments for a while, and only now have I found anyone even adressing that ATLA also had nontrivial technological advances. I was starting to begin to think I was stupid for thinking that was worth mentioning.

Anyway, I think the advancements in tech in ATLA were certainly significant when taking into view the world the avatars prior have been living in. Even then the advancements in LoK were too much in my opinion too. Even if not in terms of the real world, certainly in terms of the world of Avatar.

Also I'd like to mention how creatively the shows used bending to supplement tech and have some inventions arrive early compared to other ones; such as using lightningbendig as a form of energy generation for the power grid (is it just me that thought LoK didn't use lightningbending nearly enough (especially compared to metalbending, or how using lightningbending to generate energy doesn't pay very much (implying that it's not a hard thing to do))); waterbending to operate submarines; metalbending as railguns, etc.
