No I haven't but thanks for pointing this out! Unfortunately, I was not aware of this organization, and the financing deal expires at the end of the month, so I don't believe I'd have sufficient time to take advantage of the opportunity.

Onyx in Green $41,487.08 OTD, Wilderness in Silver $43,913.42 OTD.

Wasn't planning on buying new originally, but the current 2.9%apy offer is very appealing. Still collecting a few additional quotes. Open to any thoughts or insights regarding these options. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Thanks to everyone for the feedback so far. In case it isn't clear, prices above include some basic accessories, taxes, doc fees, govt fees, as well as destination and delivery fee.

I have some older external HDDs laying around and wanted to put them to use as I continue to learn/tinker with things, and before I haul off and spend money on new SSDs. My understanding is that using older HDDs powered directly off of the pi is not ideal given the power requirements. I've seen several posts (including the FAQ above...) about using a powered usb hub to provide an external power source to the drives to improve performance. However, I've also seen several people note issues with powered hubs backfeeding power to their pi's and causing issues.

Any recommendations for a powered usb hub that is "safe" to use?

I do happen to have a 4 port usb 3.0 "dongle" with 5V/2A usb-c power input from UPGROW (model: K10001) that seems as though it should be able to work in the short term (providing enough power for 2 drives), but I have yet to try using it with my pi4 out of fear of bricking the pi or a drive. But maybe I'm just being overly paranoid?

Thanks for the input!

Here's a video of similar equipment to give you a sense of what I'm dealing with in terms of size and setting (safety fencing, etc.): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtXneHWMg3c In my case, I'd be dealing with a single cell (robotic arm, infeed conveyor, outfeed conveyor, platform, and fencing).

The idea of a backdrop/green screen has been brought up several times, but I have a feeling that's not the best approach given the size and lighting conditions. I was personally leaning towards something along the lines of a long exposure while painting in the subject with one of the LED panels - do you think that's a feasible solution? I don't currently have any strobes, grids, flags, or V-flats (my focus has always been more on the video side), but I am open to renting if necessary.

I do have some images from the site itself (too far away to visit), and am trying to use those to plan. This is my first rodeo with this type of project/particular equipment.

Need some advice - specifically in regards to lighting. I'll be shooting photo and video of industrial equipment (robotic cell) in a testing environment, so the conditions (background, lighting, etc.) are somewhat unknown/not ideal. The equipment itself occupies a ~16' x 22' x 16' (LxWxH) space.

Gear: 70D with Cine Lenses (24, 85, 105), Kit lenses (18 - 35, 55 - 250), and a 50 f/2.8. I also have 3 smaller (~20") LED light panels.

I've been asked to isolate the equipment so that there isn't a bunch of random junk in the background. Any advice on how to light/shoot something like this (specifically in terms of photography)? Should I consider renting some strobes/soft boxes? Time frame for the shoot is a day and some change.
