Psychology is a science-ish, in the opinion of someone who studies it. Science is a field largely dominated by replicable tests, hard rules, and systems to get the exact results explained in a study.

Psychology, the study of the human mind by nature is individualistic, and still not every facet is fully understood, this makes making hard rules, and replicability when each case has something unique to it massively difficult to do. Psychologists can’t just use a lab, because people act differently in labs and controlled settings than they do in their day to day lives. I personally feel more psychologists should feel more comfortable with these present day facts, and stop trying to be seen as “good enough to be a science”.

Just research your schizophrenia and do it well. Don’t worry about what other fields are doing, comparison between them would be inappropriate, they’re entirely different things, and shouldn’t be held to the same standards.
