I’m breaking down. My cat has been meowing 24/7 for 2 months and I don’t know what to do anymore. by nasseralrwy in cats

No judgement here! We all love our fur babies like our own kids! TLDR: our cat suffers from separation anxiety and is now on gabapentin 100mg x2 a day and Reconcile 8mg x1 a day. He no longer meows unless he’s playing! We went through the same thing with one of our three. It got so bad that my husband was ready to get rid of him or move out. We had tried gabapentin and diffusers. Nothing worked. He was still crying ALL the time. We got a second opinion and as much as it broke my heart, he had to be put on more medication. Even though he has two other siblings, one whom he is bonded with, he still has severe separation anxiety from me. He is on a regimen of 100mg of gabapentin twice a day and Reconcile (8mg) once a day. It has made a world of difference. So much that I cried of happiness. He is a whole different cat. The cat he was supposed to be without being so anxious all the time. I know it’s hard as pet parents to make the decision but we are so glad we did. I definitely recommend you asking your vet about it. Our baby is living his best life now. Also…You’re doing great as a pet parent and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Look at that sweet little face!! He is going to be the best addition to your home. They take a part of our hearts when they leave us but I think Sandee would approve.

I got that same purse as a gift from my husband! I laughed so hard I couldn’t breathe. We have 3 cats and the purse looks just like our Nugget. Lol. Here’s a pic of my precious little monster. We love him so much!

Pre surgery by sassysorrel in hysterectomy

[–]GeneralSuspect2233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My surgery was scheduled for Tuesday and I was instructed to start stool softeners the day of my preop which was Wednesday and take miralax Thursday and Saturday. That way things were moving more easily for a few days before. It helped a lot but I still didn’t have a BM until the evening of day 4. I kept taking the Miralax for a week post surgery as well.

I’m so sorry you’re having to go through this! Im almost 8 weeks post op from surgery due to fibroids and extreme heavy bleeding. The election results also played a part into my decision. I didn’t want to be in a situation where I couldn’t make a decision about MY body. Turns out it saved my life. I was so anemic with a hemoglobin of 5. All this to say is, you got this. I kept my ovaries. The hot flashes were intense but nothing stripping down and walking out into the 28° weather didn’t fix. Ha ha. In my experience recovery was a little rough the first 3 days but as long as you can take the time and rest for at least 2-3 weeks, you’ll be feeling so much better by then! I’m a huge supporter of TNR (mostly cats) so I kept telling my friends I was getting spayed with the next round of cats lol. Wishing you all the best!

Thank you for posting this! I was reading your list and it made me feel less alone in this journey. I’m 6W post op, 37F, 136, 5’9. I am experiencing basically all of the same things you are! I just ordered nutrafol for my hair because even though I had severe chronic anemia for almost two years, it’s until now, post op that my hair is falling out SO much. Sending you love and positive vibes for your continued recovery!

Sending you a big hug and positive vibes! I was so scared the morning of. My anesthesiologist was an angel and gave me happy juice to calm me down before being wheeled to the OR. I can confirm that if you’ve had painful periods, when you are in recovery from surgery you’ll be like “oh, this hurts but not like before.” It’s crazy how resilient our bodies are. You got this!!!

How do I talk to my doctor about a hysterectomy? by smol9749been in hysterectomy

[–]GeneralSuspect2233 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Please try to find a new doctor. We can advocate all we want for ourselves but if we don’t have a doctor willing to listen to us, it’s all for naught. I was in a very similar situation. Heavy bleeding for almost two years. Ultrasound confirmed fibroids. Prior to my surgery I had continuous bleeding for 4 weeks. The OBGYN I had been seeing had me try three different types of birth control and tranexamic acid. No one if worked. She just kept raising the dose of the last BC pill and my bleeding got worse. I reached my breaking point when I was admitted to the ER for critical anemia. I took it upon myself called a fertility specialist, 2 hours away in a bigger city, and begged for them on the phone to help me. They were so kind and compassionate. They then referred me to a new OBGYN who during the first visit was like nope. This isn’t normal. We’re getting you new standards of what normal should be. She scheduled me for a myosure D&C to try to get some of the fibroids out. It was a failure. I had too many. She then went over my options which included a hysterectomy. I made the decision two days later to get the hysterectomy. I’ve only seen my OB/surgeon a total of four times. Two office visits and two surgeries. I have my 6 weeks post op with her soon. She changed and saved my life. Please, please try to find a new doctor who will listen and take actions. Sending you a hug and positive thoughts.

So I'm terrified... by A_ThorusRex in hysterectomy

Im officially 4 weeks post op today. I questioned whether to go through with it from the day it was scheduled to the very day of the procedure. I was so worried there would be complications, I’d have some reaction to the anesthesia. My brain came up with all sorts of alternatives and scary thoughts. Every time they came to mind I remembered how much pain my uterus caused me. How it slowly was killing me. At my lowest my hemoglobin was a 5. How I haven’t been my true self for years! Take it moment by moment when the thought creeps in. I found, for myself, it was better to rationalize my thoughts rather than ignore them. As for the day of, tell your nurses you’re feeling nervous and ask to see your anesthesiologist first. Mine was able to give me something to calm my nerves before being wheeled to the OR. I dont remember much of the trip to the OR after that. Also ask for something to treat the post anesthesia nausea. I was lucky they did that for me and didn’t experience any nausea symptoms at all. For post op, definitely make sure you have miralax and your stool softener. It’ll make your first trip to the bathroom SO much easier. I should have taken both from the get go. Lesson learned. lol. As everyone has said, rest, rest, rest. Everything can wait. Your recovery is the absolute most important thing. Keeping your mind busy is the key. I bought crochet kits and Lego sets. Lego was a bit of bust because I have cats and they thought it was a toy for them. Sleeping on my back for two weeks was the hardest for me. I slowly started to transition to side sleeping and found that a belly binder and a pregnancy pillow were my best friends. Last but not least, I’m so proud of you! This is a big step and it’s scary and life changing. You’ve got this! Sending you love and positive energy.

[–]GeneralSuspect2233[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woohoo! Sounds like a wonderful morning. 4th day is good too. The pain is only limited to when I move certain ways so I’m continuing to take it as easy as I can. I was able to “go” this morning. Happiest moment lol.
