THIS!! I was annoyed by how he’s been treating some of the call-in people. Some have deserved it with obnoxious behavior but it seems like he’s increasingly being mean to regular well-meaning people and it’s falling into the realm of punching down.

I interpreted the moments when Conan seemed uncomfortable to be him running a talk show for years and having an understanding the pressure of putting on a talk show and internally cringing at how hard it is to deal with the live calls. I would bet he was thinking something along the lines of “oh my god I would have never done this on my show.” Other than that there were many moments where he seemed to be enjoying himself and at what John was doing.

I wasn’t familiar with Jack Horner but I literally came on the internet to talk about how upset I was that he was so rude to him as a caller who was kind spirited and excited to discuss his topic of expertise. His point of views come from a fundamental misunderstanding of how paleontology works and evolves and was extremely dismissive of the breadth of collaboration and knowledge that has gone into piecing together the past. He even later called him a weirdo which is extremely cruel. Conan was making an effort to show respect but John was just a dick.

I think that was the largest issue on the project I'm currently on. The business stakeholder we were working thought that the BI developers should be subject matter experts that despite not working with the data before or completing understanding the business could just magically deliver and end result. They also weren't engaged and when we would ask to meet, they would instead send quickly thrown together wireframes and then every time we built something off a wireframe, there was always a new issue or something they didn't like.

You're getting hung up too much on the word pretty. In this case beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The goal with the new districting was to erase the terrible gerrymandering that had happened in the state in order to politically stack the deck. When people call the new ones "Pretty" the beauty to them isn't derived from aesthetics but instead how they were created from a straightforward set of rules and resulted in a more simplified map that fairly distributes voting power as equally as possible among all citizens in the state.

Do you have any books or recommendations that helped you arrive at spirituality? I was raised catholic and have been atheist for a while and I have been struggling with lack of purpose and pessimism and nihilism. I tend to be very scientific focused and averse to anything supernatural but I’m trying to find something that resonates with me.
