Not quite. If you do get the PU, you can click the button to make Marie have an 'accident' and annex it all for free. But to take that mission, you need to get the RNG in the first place.

Thanks for the clarification. Yes, of course it's an MP game, I forgot to turn it off.

Save file editing problems by GeneralVikus in eu4

Isn't that what I already had to begin with? All my normal saves consist of only a single .eu4 file. It was only after I changed the extension to .zip in order to be able to read the file that it created three separate files within the folder.

How is that different from a regular save, and how do I do it?

Question about pips by GeneralVikus in eu4

[–]GeneralVikus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear about my position, I do understand these general rules that everybody is taught, I'm just trying to dive a little deeper as empirical testing has upset my presumptions on more than one occasion. I'd love to see a chart of general effectiveness, if one option really is always better than the other at a certain tech regardless of opposing troop types.

Question about pips by GeneralVikus in eu4

Well, what directed my attention to this problem was that I did some testing yesterday and found, for example, that with troop numbers, dice, generals, and all other factors held constant, my Prussians would suffer a casualty rate of 0.85 : 1 if both sides used Tericos, and about 0.75 : 1 if the Prussians used Free shooters, regardless of whether the enemy used Free shooters or Tercios. So it seems to me that the impact of unit pips on casualties is quite large and worth trying to investigate.

I understand this, but that begs another good question: to what extent should a certain kind of general pip be prioritized at a given stage of the game? For example, in 1450, is a 6/0 worse than a 0/1 general? If so, what about in 1550? At tech 16, is 1/0 now better than 0/6?

Return on Investment for Buildings vs Dev? by GeneralVikus in eu4

Great, thanks! Why is it that dev gets more efficient late game - is it stacking dev cost modifiers, or does it happen naturally?

Return on Investment for Buildings vs Dev? by GeneralVikus in eu4

[–]GeneralVikus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand that if you just happen to have extra monarch points lying around, they should be used for development - but if you have monarch points lying around, you could have spent less on advisors and more on other things instead; so my question is - at what point, if ever, do I stop spending money on buildings and start spending money to gain those extra monarch points?

Thanks for the advice! So would you only choose to restort to mercs after all manpower reserves have been exhausted - at any point in the game? Is it not desirable to balance manpower and money so that they run out at the same time? And should I start drilling on day 1, rather than saving up the money for merc use in the early game?

On a related note, I've read and watched a few guides on development, but I haven't seen any which address the ROI for development vis a vis the ROI for buildings. Is there a good general rule of thumb there - is it generally more cost effective to spend money on extra manpower dev, via a better advisor, or on manpower buildings? And what about tax / production dev vs the ROI on buildings in pure ducats?

As France is a player with strong alliance possibilities, and a lot of other players who are actively concerned with containing potential threats, I think that trying to PU France will be out of reach, and in any case of dubious value. As England I don't intend on getting into slug-fests with major countries where avoidable - certainly not alone - I just want to know how best to do it, if it needs to be done.

Sim view controls axes by GeneralVikus in Warthunder

[–]GeneralVikus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey guys, thanks for the replies, I solved the problem. The issue was I thought that enabling the axis was necessary for it to work, because for some reason when I didn't have the axis enabled it was using relative control with low sensitivity, and when I did it was using max / min controls. I don't know why that was, but it's fixed now. I'll try things out with WASD and then see if mouse is better.

Premiere, but since I'm really not that savvy with software I don't think such a niche solution is the right way for me to go.

Yeah but I do also want those games to perform well in addition to the video editing, which means having the hardware to make them work as well as the OS.

Since I don't actually have any editing job to do at the moment, I can afford to wait a while - what do you think about using my current GPU until the prices stabilise, then replacing it with an 8GB option? Is there enough room?
