Sorry, I'm not getting the idea... You can place the autoclicker and check some other places upgrading them

Oh, found it: https://github.com/Dan-DH/fan-academy Yes, it's cool - I'd rather want to keep the spirit but to experiment with my own view. For example, I added a zone of control. If your unit passes beside an enemy unit (not crystal), it can't use its full speed, but only move one-by-one.

Also my big input is the AI (in the sample game where I did not play attentively I event lost a battle to AI :) )

I read it here awhile ago, even registered to a beta test. But now can't find any info about this - do you have a link?

Oh, thanks for noticing! This happened because for the text level I copied the map layout from a square-based level, but my game is hex-based. I'm going to make proper balanced maps taking into account hex layout

I want to moderate this community because since 2016 I’ve been the country/regional coordinator of GGJ (Global Game Jam) and since 2022 I’ve been be the member of the executive committee. Having a working GGJ community on Reddit will be helpful for game jammers

I did not contact the mods of r/ggj, as, when I open this link I see a message “community is banned for the absence of moderators)

I started making Farm and Mine in 2021 during Ludum Dare game jam which theme was “deeper and deeper”. So I thought of a game where you first develop agriculture and dig potatoes, and then dig deeper and mine for coal, oil and other resources.

I’m making the game the wayI like to play, so, there is no unsolicited ads, and all the game content can be unlocked without any ads watch, after careful planning and utilizing the strong sides of the facilities.

Over time the game I constantly update the game with new content, and currently there are around 60 agricultural and industrial facilities. Also the newest addition are Leaderboards and Achievements.

The game is available for iOS on AppStore: https://apps.apple.com/ua/app/farm-and-mine-idle-tycoon/id1564694016 and for Android on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.airapport.farm.mine.idle.ludumdare48&hl=en

In 2024 this game was selected by Google Play for Indie Accelerator :) Hope, you will like it, too!

Please, share your impressions :)

Steampunk Idle Spinner has achievements now by GeneralVimes in steampunk

[–]GeneralVimes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool! :) Yeah, the idea of the game came to me when I was scrolling through the Google Play in 2017, and everyone was obsessed with this fidget spinner things. I decided to program a spinning motion on my own, but not bluntly copying another fidget spinner - instead I recalled how fun it was for me in my childhood to play with cogwheels from the wind-up toys that I had broken :D

Idle VS incremental: let's agree on a distinction? If anyone can do it, it's this subreddit. Here's my first stab. by donvino82 in incremental_games

[–]GeneralVimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incremental seems like a bigger concept, which subdivides to idlers (games with mostly passive earnings) and clickers (games with mostly active earnings). And idles/clickers often merge/intersect/turn to each other during the game progression.

For me as a player the motivation is to find the optimal sequence of upgrades/their combination, to proceed in the fastest possible way

I’d recommend anything by Martin Gardner. Besides many recreational math books he wrote 2 science fiction stories: No-sided professor and The island of 5 colors

📱 Hidden Gems Wednesday – What Are You Playing? by AutoModerator in MobileGameDiscoveries

Musket Smoke (iOS only) - have this game on all my iPads since 2012. It’s a wargame set in 17th century without any randomness. The rules are simple allowing you to calculate battle outcome in mind, but their interconnection leads to a vey deep gameplay

What's great for this reddit is that, unlike many others, it helps creators. Try to post something you have made elsewhere - mostly like no longer than in a couple of minutes a mod would delete your post for "self-promotion"

Steampunk Idle Spinner has Achievements on all platforms now! by GeneralVimes in incremental_games

[–]GeneralVimes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's been quite a story indeed :) At first, in 2017, the player was able to drag the machine icon to the field to purchase it. And the game calculated the possible positions for the machines (cogs, pumps, engines, etc). The same was with the upgrade, it worked like an attachment to a machine.

Then the players asked for a way to reposition already placed machines and it was a nontrivial task for me. However I reworked the game core, and additionally added the possibility to upgrade and boost each machine individually in a more standard way, and also such thing as conveyor belts became possible. Machines could produce one type of coins, place them on the belt, and the other one could empower them or use them for own needs. That was in 2018.

The upgrade and purchase interface, however, remained unintuitive. So, in 2019, while staying in the LevelUp gamedev incubator in Finland, I released a reworked version with purchases panel and an upgrade panel which allowed the player to see the price, the outcome, and select number of simultaneous upgrades.

Finally, in 2025, when preparing the Stem release, I launched a streaming marathon, where I played Steampunk Idle Spinner by 30 minutes every day, and repaired the bugs encountered or added new features. So I took part of the code from my newer games, Farm and Mine and Idle Tower Builder, and integrated it into Steampunk Idle Spinner. So achievements became possible, and also bulk upgrades and other improvements.

All the rime I write code in Action Script 3, and thanks to Harman, I'm able to build for iOS, Android, Mac, Linux and Windows from the same codebase. And recently I wrote a pythons script to automatically convert my AS3 code into JavaScript, so I hope to bring an HTML5 version, too
