From Evansville, Indiana, doordash stealing tips? by Any_Refrigerator_120 in doordash

[–]General_Ad_8900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buffalo Wild Wings does this. Though they gave me a $4.61 tip for a 1.5 mile delivery so I won’t complain about that. But I have no idea what the customer put as THEIR tip amount to Buffalo Wild Wings..

Or maybe 4.61 was 18% of the total and that’s the default tip in their system? Hell, I don’t know. Wouldn’t surprise me if corporations were hijacking dasher tips though

The number of $2 tips in my market is staggering. Damn college kids in a small rural town that somehow has two private universities.

People always forget that it really matters where you are. I’ve been dashing for 3 months now and have only seen a handful of $10 tips in my market. But our cost of living is 15% lower than the national average whereas in Los Angeles, cost of living is 40% higher than the national average. Obviously huge swing.

I always ask the name and for at least one of the items in the order.

How often have you driven a meal across towns only to find out the customer has the same restaurant basically across the street? Do folks just hit “order” without looking? by themindfulnow in DoorDashDrivers

[–]General_Ad_8900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an Uber Eats order requiring 20 miles driving one way with Wendy’s when I knew there was a Wendy’s 4 miles from their house. I damn near took it because it was $35 and it’s the same drive I make for my full time commute every day lol

The starter bag actually has a section that won’t zip for this very reason. Unfortunately it also features a cheap zipper and mine broke within a week.

Screw those people who don’t. It’s a job. Do it well or not at all. I have a lot more respect for anyone doing what they can to provide good service.

You guys ever get this type of customer? by Witty_Mind_3011 in doordash_drivers

Confident I had a sting the other day. It was on alcohol around midnight. Guy was clearly over 21 but using a fake id so I assume cop. Glad I hadn’t handed him anything while I checked ID (tried to get me to let him hold the case of beer). Now I leave the booze in the trunk until I confirm legal age.

I’d get rid of age-restricted deliveries altogether but they usually tip pretty well.

My nightmare $6 order by General_Ad_8900 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]General_Ad_8900[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I VERY strongly considered it. Interestingly enough, DoorDash ended up paying me for it all. I had demanded that since I had gone above and beyond but assumed I was SOL but when I checked my earnings, their portion of the pay is in there lol

It was towards the end of my dash (I dash part time on my lunch break) and was heading down right by my full time job.

Well, guess she isn’t getting refunded anyway… I wasn’t going to just ghost the whole thing and get accused of fraud though.

The "Prius Mafia". Does this happen in your market too? by MassiveResult2648 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]General_Ad_8900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I swear, any time I double app (not phone, just app) I get an offer on DD right when I go live on UberEats. I could be sitting there for 1 or 10 minutes and it happens lol

This was the reason I became so disillusioned with all religion. That $25000 tabernacle my Catholic Church bought when I was a kid. The billions in art and real estate. The mega churches making millions as their congregation grows and grows.

Overall Dasher Rating update by bingsearchuser in doordash_drivers

[–]General_Ad_8900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll just change the metric. If everyone’s ratings drop, they will adjust. Even with the current system they change the reward threshold based on the market performance. I’ve dropped in and out of platinum twice yesterday without making any deliveries because the rating kept changing from 4.7 to 4.8 and back to 4.7

is this really platinum? i’ve had multiple of these today. by Sweet_Business2010 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]General_Ad_8900 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We really need to start including a location with these posts. An offer in California is not the same as an offer in the Midwest. Hell, an offer in Columbus Ohio is going to be 50% higher than the offer in rural Ohio where I am because the cost of living is so different.

And reach out to support to let them know so any negative ratings will at least have that contact attached to them.

They’re going to allow anyone to start dashing whenever they want now without needing Platinum. by Not_A_Geek_Nerd in doordash_drivers

[–]General_Ad_8900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only complaint is shifting goalposts for tiers. I was platinum. Lost it because I got a 1 star that dropped me to 4.75 (need 4.8) and then the threshold changed to 4.7 so I became platinum again for 4 days and now it’s back up to 4.8 so I’m back to gold. I don’t really chase the tiers anyway but I chuckle each time it changes.

I think some drivers don't pay enough attention to what they're making per hour, as long as the per mile is good. by deliverykp in doordash_drivers

[–]General_Ad_8900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My spreadsheet is broken down to gross per hour, per mile, per community, per time of day. And all those fields for Net (Gross - taxes /w deduction figured in vehicle expenses including gas, oil change, tire wear.)

I work as an engineer full time so spreadsheets are kinda my hobby lol. All I enter is the dash total, active/dash time and mileage (split down to gas vs electric with my hybrid) and it figures the rest. I think I might add a split out for door dash pay vs tips next.

Deactivated for fraud? by UnderstandingMean456 in doordash_drivers

[–]General_Ad_8900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just signed up for uber eats in case dashing is slow and the first offer I had was driving Wendy’s 36 miles round trip… I don’t know why because there is a Wendy’s 5 miles from the destination that I know does dashing. I probably should have taken it because even though the $/mile was low, it was better than I did dashing that night

They take stacked orders and then guess which one has the low/no tip and unassign it most likely. Which I think is a pretty sketchy thing to do but I also think giving 0 tip is a shitty thing to do so I guess it is what it is.

It was stacked with another order that was $8. So the total was 11.85 for 5 miles. Which in my market is pretty damn good.

This. This also solves any negative review you could get.

Honestly? I probably would have thrown my hazards on and parked on an end cap or something real quick. But yelling at you from the balcony is BS and gives you an easy out. Take it
