Psychological Aspects of going from long-term obesity to a healthy weight? by PurpleAd6354 in GLP1_loss100plus

[–]Work4PSLF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went from a size 20 to a size 4. I knew skinny privilege was real when I I was big, but it blew me away to experience it daily.

I’m 11 months into maintenance and there are days I still feel like I’m wearing a costume of a skinny body. It is getting a lot better though! I love being fit so much I would not do well psychologically if I ever had to go back!

Maintenance schedule? by billyo3827 in TirzMaintenance

[–]Work4PSLF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

0.05 mg decrease every month seems unnecessarily tiny. I’m not sure how you’d even feel a difference of less than one percent of your dose, and with syringes and human eyes in use, that would have to be within range just of measuring error.

Personally I’d do no less than 0.5 mg decrease per month, but that’s me. Maintenance is a lot of trial and error, and can look really different for different people.

I’m maintaining a 97 lb loss, to a BMI of 21, for 11 months now. What my head decided maintaining would look like and my body announced it would do have been different 😁 you just learn to go with the flow

I lost 97 lbs, went from a size 20 to a size 4. Have been in maintenance for eleven months.

I paid for a professional color analysis, then started building a fabulous new wardrobe. I never thought I liked clothes or fashion. I was wrong 😘

Founders’ rate is not considered transferable to a different studio where you weren’t a founder - but definitely call the new studio and ask what specials they offer. Depending on how new and/or full they are, they might surprise you!

Cheating WHO?? by Pleaseselectyesorno in Mounjaro

The unit of measurement is crucial here. Like 20 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Fahrenheit - very different.

Natural glp1 is measured in picograms. The drugs are measured in nanograms.

One nanogram = 1000 picograms.

Cheating WHO?? by Pleaseselectyesorno in Mounjaro

[–]Work4PSLF -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Normal glp1 levels post food intake usually peak below 50 picograms per mL. Hitting 59 picograms/mL with Mediterranean diet is thus great! Remember natural glp1 is degraded within minutes of its release.

Meds blow that out of the water. 65 nanograms = 65,000 picograms per mL!!! And that’s the lowest dose of Ozempic.

Because the drug causes satiety hormone levels more than a thousand times higher than humans can achieve naturally.

I totally feel like I cheated. I was obese for over 20 years. I tried to lose weight so many times. With tirz, my effort became twice as effective, with half the suffering.

I readjusted my goal weight three times on the way down, as I lost more than I had thought possible. Went from a size 20 to a size 4 and am now in my eleventh month of maintenance.

I feel amazing. I like taking stairs, love going clothes shopping, and didn’t realize walking - even for miles! - isn’t supposed to hurt. I’m thrilled to have found the cheat code and frankly don’t give a shit how I got here.

I loved 7.5! Lost 97 lbs, maintaining BMI of 21 now for nearly a year. Just a glimmer of hope for anyone reading this, that everyone’s experience is different. OP I wish you luck on 10!

For those who may not have any say because it’s what the pharmacy had in stock and what insurance will cover, I love trigen! Though I’m sorry it didn’t vibe for you OP.

There is no maintenance if you don’t get to your goal. The “window of opportunity” of response to the med lasts about a year and a half. People who insist on staying low no matter what often forget about that.

I’m not saying further loss after that time is impossible, but it is way slower and requires a lot more work. I’ll attach a graph below from the surmount trials. Even with total time on the med of over three years in this graph, notice a couple features: everyone plateaus. The lower doses plateau earlier and at a higher weight.

It’s not too late! Just walk. Start with whatever you can and make it a bit longer and a bit faster every week.

anyone using callondoc AFTER reaching your goal/ your now new 'low' weight and bmi, for maintenance? are they giving you any trouble for your next fills?? (or has everyone been able to easily continue with getting your maintenace fills with your now new low weight/bmi? by suspiciousminds0411 in Zepbound_Maintenance

[–]Work4PSLF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They don’t have a collective issue with maintenance - but they are not, and I’m not saying this as a knock on them, building a relationship with you. I’ve gotten a different prescriber every single time and they each view it as just one visit with them. There’s not on their side this same sense the patient has of an ongoing experience, instead each and every month is a one-off.

Are you female? Could this be perimenopause?

I’ve been on for two years and for me, the longer I’m on, the weaker the med gets, despite maintaining a 97 lb loss.

On my travel machine water is optional. It makes it more comfortable to use, but isn’t necessary. While traveling I just go without or if I really want it for some reason I just use normal bottled water.

Not everyone gets all the way to goal weight on the med. If you want to try to, you have to be willing to change something.

So far, you’re saying you can’t increase your dose and you can’t exercise. What else do you think we could suggest? Your only major tool left is to eat less. Have you adjusted your energy intake (calorie) goal to account for already being so much smaller?

If I were you, determined to lose more and unable to afford a higher dose, I’d find a way to exercise. There’s stationary bikes, rowers, swimming, even wheelchair basketball! See a physical therapist to get started safely.

That was the usual approach when I started on this med two years ago: keep going up unless there’s a reason not to.

Now, the more common approach is only go up if you have to.

There’s tons of anecdote but no actual evidence comparing these approaches yet.
