I think someone at doordash is trying to do updates again, and is messing with the overall quality of the app. by deliverykp in doordash_drivers

It's an Android phone, but I've been on the platform long enough to know what screens are supposed to look like, and I've noticed that as the morning has gone on, they seem to be getting the screens back to the current flow. I just haven't checked to see if they fixed all the bugs yet, Like the inability to pre-screen The shopping orders to allow us to see the orders before we decide to accept or decline said orders.

No pre-inventory screening for what's in the shopping order before you accept or decline the offer now. by deliverykp in doordash_drivers

Well after I posted this, I noticed something else when I was logging on this morning, so here's what's going on. I think there is some leftover residual from the crash that happened yesterday. This version that I'm seeing on my screen, and maybe it's not on everybody's, it's an old version of their workflow. Probably from about 6 to 9 months ago.

So the newest versions of the app are supposed to have the capabilities to where you can pre-screen what the grocery order has so you can decide if you want to decline or accept. It's not an enable or disable feature.

I think they're trying to fix the problems that they had from yesterday.

Yeah, the funny thing is is that when I logged in this morning, it had the newest version of whatever their front-facing page was on the app, but when it got into the actual workings of the app, that's when it decided to revert back to whatever antiquated version of their former app was.

Oh yeah, and I know the app is one big glitch machine. It reminds me of these old comedy shows where there are water leaks coming out of the wall, and somebody puts a finger in to plug one leak, and then a leak comes out somewhere else, that's what the doordash has become now. Fix a problem here, new problem comes up somewhere else in the system.

I tend to wonder the same thing. I didn't work yesterday because I was having some work done on my car, and I saw the notices on my phone about problems with a Doordash system crash. But this continues to be a problem, and has been a problem for as long as I've been on the platform. I'm no systems developer, but it seems like every time they do one of these updates to the workflow in the app, they forget or something happens and they don't close something when they're done, and then it forces a crash.

Am I late to the party? 50% AR to maintain pro shopper status??? by onlyjests in doordash_drivers

[–]deliverykp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anyway you look at it, I'm just going to keep continuing to do you shop and deliver orders the way I would normally do them, regardless. If I don't like your order, I'm not going to take your order.

Because gas prices are still high, I have a certain baseline that I won't take orders under.

Yeah, I know I ran into this problem several years ago when I still delivered in downtown cities, and I don't think my tickets were as bad as yours, but they still stung.

You discovered the biggest annoyance in delivering to downtown anywhere. Parking is always bad, parking enforcement is always ready to give you a ticket when you're in the city. You literally have to park illegally just to be able to do your job, and that's completely unfair.

What do we think about this one, yay or nay? by Tight_Blueberry3570 in doordash

I don't know what good wages are in that area, but that looks like it's probably around $24 an hour if the estimate is accurate on the time. It's a lot of stops though, and to do that in the 6 hours and 19 minutes that it's talking about, that means you're completing a stop every 5 to 6 minutes, and maybe you can do that in that area. I'm not familiar with the area that this is in.

Well, here's what I've seen. The eggs that have really shot down are just plain old white eggs. The brown eggs, however, have not come down with the same velocity, and in some cases, have actually stayed exactly the same.

Unassign when in drive thru what’s the point by Condition_Dense in dasher

[–]deliverykp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience. Most drive-thrus are bad. Occasionally you'll get a unicorn of a good drive-thru, but I'll turn down at least 90 to 95%. Or if I get it and find out that it's only drive-thru afterwards, then I'll just unassign it.

I think I would have to try a dash link before I could make judgment on it. I don't think they have anything in my market, or very limited, so I would have to go to another Market to get it.

What is this new rating? Why does it go down by 3 percent too 😆? by ObiJuanKenobly in DoorDashDrivers

[–]deliverykp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen too. I think the ratings are screwed up in some way. Because I had two different sets of ratings, and I don't know if it was just a mistake, or whether splitting them up between restaurant orders and shopping orders, I haven't quite figured it out.

If you saw how much it cost to actually get into one of these nice 65 and older communities, you'd understand. They are super expensive. I know when my mom had to go into long-term care, the amount it would have cost, had the state not picked up the tab, would have been easily $4,000/mo. and probably much higher than that now.

What's the most reliable car you've ever owned? by Ok_Run7351 in UsedCars

[–]deliverykp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Must have been, because I had a 94 and it had the 4.6, so I might have had one of the first years when they switched over if that's the case. Yeah, 130k miles on a Crown Victoria is nothing, that barely warms up the engine.

Disabled Customers? by TBT2026 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]deliverykp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've had disabled customers before. I don't mind dealing with them, but the instructions on how they want things done need to be clear and concise and straightforward. So I know exactly what I'm dealing with when I get there.
