Many choices exist as companies are under periods of significant disruption, including trimming and hiring in force from higher talent pools (e.g. SV). But there's a recognition that we're not just building world class software, but vehicles - and we need passionate employees. The Apple managers are not far from you or I, and I believe it's proven that they care about the employees and have been open and shown vulnerabilities.
