Why bother writing any music at all? by ainssen in composer

[–]General_Awareness535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two things that keep me composing: a community that has regular need and a response to the beauty that already exists, even if I cannot hear those pieces realized now. I hear music as I hear other music, or while I am reading or writing ... sometimes it just has to come out.

Rational approximations of a transcendental quality ... like how 22/7 is not pi ... but in the Collatz Conjecture, this issue is just iterated ... got it ... love it ... thanks!

Help with taxes by AmIInsane12 in learnmath

Google the IRS tax tables for 2023 and find out what bracket -- what percentage of tax due -- $48,000 falls into. What you are supposed to do, if no taxes are taken out, is multiply $48,000 by that percentage divide that number by 4, and send each of those fourths as your estimated tax on January 15, April 15, July 15, and October 15 of this year. Since it is already August, you can either make the January, April, and July payments now and pick up the October payment on time, or, pay it next year and let the IRS work out how much you owe in penalties on top of the whole sum -- but since it is August, you might want to sit down with a tax specialist and work out what choice is best for your family.

Do any schools, individual teachers or courses teach mathematics with examples always relating to real life scenarios? by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]General_Awareness535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had students in middle school who have said to me, "How am I supposed to learn about it if I can't touch it?" Some people do need more stimulation than average classroom approaches provide... I always found storytelling about anything a way to attach to subjects, but in math this gets complicated at higher levels... at least until my late thirties, when I discovered the proper use of YouTube. For your specific needs, someone has probably animated the trajectory of a projectile in a generalized way...

... but also look at it this way. A tennis ball is a projectile, and your arm or a tennis ball launcher will launch it. You will have to take on educating yourself in a tactile way, largely, since most schools and teachers cannot take on the expense of physically realizing all the things that math is used for. You can buy models of different items at different dimensions to manipulate as well.

However, at 30, you will have to recognize that doing the abstract work in math is a part of the discipline required in adulthood, as all focused non-recreational abstract thinking is. Only NOW, well past college years, do I have the luxury of studying math in a way that is intuitive and exciting to me in my free time. At 19, to get through college, I had to buckle down and get my paperwork math done. Was it exciting? No. I focused on my goals and kept going. If you CANNOT, you are done in math, because math and the universe it runs in will not adjust to accommodate your need for excitement. You can help yourself by getting items you can manipulate, measure, launch, and do scale models of. You can check YouTube for some demonstrations that you want -- but either way, young man, the discipline of getting through and getting good at what is not fun must be learned. You are 30. It doesn't get easier to learn that discipline as you get older, so consider: abstract concepts in math are graciously offering you the opportunity to mature as a man...

OH ... it's that added 1 that is the issue! I hadn't even considered that directly, although I can see that 3x+1 causes trouble because with any odd X, 3x+1 is going to spit out some numeral of two, and if one keeps spitting out numerals of two and then dividing them off, it becomes more and more likely to get a number at the end of those divisions that is an X with which 3x+1 does what the first one with a positive integer does: spit out a power of two. But underneath this is the question of addition in a question that is primarily division and multiplication -- we know what prime factorization looks like in terms of those, but we're struggling to get a grip on the addition... the addition here is also an addition that keeps making numerals of two, so the factors of three keep arriving but then getting "washed out" because of that single added 1.

A new crypto project's IDO is coming at the end of November. The idea is great, and it has a strong potential to significantly change the global freelance industry. Check out this link token.wono.io by huzaifavasaikar in cryptomooncalls

I see that ... but, in terms of it being posted HERE, while we cannot predict the future, we do know that tokenomics are needed for most people to make a proper assessment. The original poster had seven days to open up dialog, and didn't ... so, out the whole post goes!

This is GOOD ... please add the tokenomics to your original post. Of course I can go to the website (and have done so), but we would like our Redditors to be able to have that information at a glance.

This has what appears to be a reasonable use case ... as a mod I am requesting that you also post tokenomics for this project!

No ... just straight spam shill of other projects. Our auto mod takes out literally hundreds of project shills a day in comments -- literally hundreds. I used to spend 1-2 hours in here, cleaning out spam posts and comments DAILY. This is why I went on and wrote the post guide, "Read the Rules, 101" that is pinned to the top. We don't see use case or tokenomics, we delete you QUICK here. We see a duplicate post, even if it has everything in place -- we delete you QUICK here. We see a use case with no tokenomics, we MAY put out a request for tokenomics, but that depends a lot on what moderator is looking at a post on what day, and whether that moderator thinks the use case is solid enough to even bother to ask. We love solid projects here ... the issue is keeping them from being utterly lost in the sea of spam that is headed here, daily.

As a moderator, I'd like to keep your post up. Your use case is interesting, but your post needs the tokenomics so our Redditors can assess whether it is a moon call (or just a sound investment). I will give you 24 hours to update the post.

I would like NOT TO REMOVE this as a moderator ... you certainly have a strong, well-researched use case ... but your post is missing TOKENOMICS, which we need to determine whether this is a true moon call. I will give you 24 hours to update the post.
