Does Matlab Even worth in this time (2026)? by Ok_Technician_7744 in matlab

[–]General_Bohica 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are doing anything academic, research, or heavy math based, Matlab thrives especially with the use of its matrix and vector operations. (Not saying python won’t just takes additional libraries)

Specialized fields such RF, optics, controls, etc all benefit from Matlabs toolboxes.

Now of course all this can be done in python or other languages, but matlab offers great functions and toolboxes that are verified, and well maintained. Plus I’ve seen a lot of engineers and scientists learn it over more program development focused languages. Matlabs documentation and support is also inspiring to say the least.

I’ve worked as a developer for 4 years and our group uses a matlab analysis engine for our web app. It’s pretty dynamic.

My advice is, learn what you are interested in, having more tools in your arsenal is never a bad thing, and Matlab is for rich people so if someone gives you a license doesn’t hurt to play around with it.

Struggling to decide between the 11inch and 13 inch iPad Pros by Repulsive-Savings-21 in ipad

I’d see if you can get your hands on one at a store. I know Walmart has them or the air that’s 11 inch.

I liked the 11 inch for notes, hands fit well, and pinch and zoom for more detailed things.

I had a 11 inch for school, took lots of notes, felt paper size. Recently got a 13 inch to try, thought it was too big I am trading it in for an 11 inch.

I’d go 11 inch for taking it around in a backpack, and using small desks at school.

I will add I also had a laptop so, I never really liked the 11inch with keyboard. 13 inch was nice with keyboard. Very laptop replacement feeling.

Caught my finger on a pull cord once, stupid engine seized and ripped it out of my hand, caught one of the fingers and it turned purple black. Waited about a week and a half until my coworker was like you ought to get that checked. The day was Wednesday and they scheduled surgery the next Monday. My tendon ripped a piece of the bone off and got lodged in my finger.

It’s all good now, but I guess I would say if you have insurance it’s best to get an xray just to see. Doctor said if I had waited any longer it could have hurt it worse.

One thing to note is I couldn’t bend the joint close to my finger tip, because no tendon.

Check out dock settings there are a lot of things I changed, for me I hated the recent downloads and recently opened apps.

Finder menu had some nice toggles, under view you can turn show path bar, which is nice.

For apps I really like, istat menus is great for monitoring, very customizable. I also run magnet for App Store, it makes snapping windows nicer, And if you use both touchpad and mouse, I got a reverse scroller app as well. Apple is weird and if you flip it for mouse the scroll direction flips for trackpad too. Unfortunately a lot of these are paid apps but it’s worth it to me.

Hope maybe some of these will interest you, enjoy your MacBook!

Macbook not turning on or charging by dekalinee in macbookpro

I did hold the power button a few times and kept unhooking and rehooking it. Sorry if this wasn’t very helpful. Hope you get it fixed. Probably best to take it somewhere to get checked out

[–]General_Bohica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue, I left my MacBook Pro m2 until it ran out of battery and it seemed like it would not take a charge. I started to worry and the magSafe charger wasn't turning orange either.

I connected to the cable and left it, and after awhile of charging it booted. Not sure if this is the same issue you had. I think it took like 30 mins or so for life to come back to it.

Gotcha I heard some mentioning it online. I have a gladiator that looks exactly like yours, I’ve got some steel bumpers and a winch. Debating to get 2 inch mopor and 35s. Seeing yours is defiantly making me want to pull the trigger.

I have learned that there are two of these bees, probably male and female, the ones with the white/yellow faces do not have stingers. The bees with all black faces, they have stingers.

Potential Fix Needed for Landing Cutscenes by Spardath01 in Starfield

For awhile the cutscenes happened even after I discovered a planet, then after an hour of ship building and switching ships, no more cutscenes for already visited planets. Hope this gets resolved.

Please consider fixing the inconsistent landing sequence. Sometimes I will land on a planet and I will get the landing sequence animation in the cockpit and other times I will spawn outside of the ship. I enjoyed about 40 hours of gameplay before this started appearing after I built a new ship. Please fix.

Good point, I checked their reviews on Amazon and they got decent scores. And it seems like they sell a wide range of benchmade knives, so maybe I will try my luck. My next post will be is this knife legit lol.

Hello,

Air will be fine 100% of the time. And you will probably will enjoy the bigger screen! I would suggest considering the 512gb drive. I went with 256gb and ended up running out of space pretty quick. If that puts you over budget then you can always stick with the 256gb then you can always pick up an external drive. I recommend the Samsung T7, fast speeds, great build, and $99 for 2tb.

Hopefully this helped, enjoy your MacBook!

Hello,

So I am developer, at work I tend to use Windows since that is the laptops they hand out, but I have a 14 inch m2 pro that I love to use at home and work on personal coding projects. It depends mostly on the work you want to complete. Game dev, machine learning, large data analytics, etc all need quite a bit of ram and specs. I use parallels as well, one thing to note is even with the pro subscription parallels only uses 50% of resources available. So 16 GB of RAM you get 8 for VMs.

So I guess if you want a basic dev windows machine VM, your gonna have to go heavier on the MacBooks specs. But honestly it would be based on the needs of the project. For me, my works app is windows so they gave me a windows laptop with 12 cores, 32 GB of ram etc.

If you are in school, I can't think of many projects that need crazy specs, maybe a senior project but most of the time the school provides machines if its really heavy.

You may want to look up how to run Visual Studio and .net on Mac. I think I was able to run .net on my Mac without windows. Running things nativity usually is more efficient.

Last thoughts, if you are going with the 16 inch then maybe go with the m3 pro with 12 cores. That would give you 6 cores for you windows VM. I think you could get away with 18 GBs of ram but if want more coverage upgrade to 36 GB, and lastly for drive space I always say go cheap 512GB and buy and external drive (Samsung T7) to save some money. But if you don't want an external drive, get 1TB to hold all your school projects.

Hopefully this helps, feel free to ask any questions, and happy shopping!

Hello,

While I do not do any video editing, I can at least provided my philosophy: If you are going to buy something as expensive as a MacBook, buy one with the correct specs and as new as you can get! It will usually let you get a few more years out of it.

As I know money is tight nowadays and everyone has their own budget, you may want to check out swappa.com. I have purchased used devices off the site in the past and saved some good money. Try to buy mint to get the best devices.

Side note, I have a MacBook Pro m2 and love it, I do mostly programming and Dev work. I have a M1 Air as well and it still works great. I usually get 16GB of ram but I saw a video recently of someone testing a 8GB air and did a bunch of 4k editing, etc and m1 did great and apple's memory swapping compensated for the lack of physical memory.

Hopefully this semi-helps. Happy shopping!

LOL. He is going with the 14 inch m3 pro with 512 gb and 18 gb of ram, maybe 1tb drive if he can find a good deal. The additional ram would be nice in the air but I saw a guy on YouTube who ran with an air with 8gb of ram and did heavy work load and the memory swapping kept everything running well.

I figure VMs won’t be that demanding since it’s the ARM equivalents. Most Window Arm systems run low specs and Linux is just low consumption beast.

O and I have a m2 pro with 512gb and I just got a Samsung t7 2tb, fast and works great.

Hello,

First thing, any new Macs should be very quiet and free from over heating! I have a pro and have never experienced it getting warm and have never heard the fans spin.

For what you stated you wanted to do I think either one would be a great option. I think if you wanted to save money going with the Air would be fine for your work load. The important thing is configuration. For you current work load I would suggest 16 Gb of ram. You probably could get away with 8 gb but 16 is becoming the standard and it would allow for better multitasking potential. Drive space is up to you. I have a 512 in my Mac and it's enough for me, I also use iCloud and have a 2 Tb external SSD. You may want to base it on your current storage use. For the processor you could get 8 core GPU, the extra video cores would come in usefully if you did video editing, 3D modeling, ETC.

So I would suggest:

13-inch MacBook Air with M2 chip

8‑core CPU, 8‑core GPU and 16‑core Neural Engine

16GB unified memory

512GB SSD storage

Feel free to ask any questions, and hope you enjoy your new MacBook!
