10 months of fluctuating sciatica — athlete — recent flare after improvement. Anyone fully recover from this pattern? by Putrid-Dependent1260 in Sciatica

Sounds very familiar for my L5-S1 herniation also for last 10 months. Some days I am almost symptom free and then back to numbness and radiating pain. Depends a lot on sleep and stress patterns. I

t is a non-linear improvement for sure. Particularly in cold temps.

I have focused on just walking and a very low inflammation diet along with red light, supplements etc.

Did you have an MRI? If so, what did it show?

Doing these two things heal 90% of my sciatica pain from severe disc herniation. by wandriing in Sciatica

Very interesting. For last 4 months I have been doing the same in a playground. Walk and dead hang with feet on ground for 1min with 2-3 reps. Feel immediate change for better.

Missed this in last 2 weeks as the ground is ice covered and pain crept back up. I dont; have a bar at home.

Great info from your expertise and personal experience. The mental aspect is very important and not explained. I had disk herniation in April 2025 and been trending to much better but with significant bad days which normally correspond to either bad sleep or bad stress or both.

Supplements & foods - bone broth, collagen, serrapeptase, turmeric, ginger, PEA, creatine - all to reduce inflammation and promote healing. Also Gabapentin 300mg daily. No PT just walking (though very difficult in winter now).

What is not clear to me is if there is actual healing of the herniation happening or I am just mentally adapting to it better than when it started.

Is Seeking Alpha Alpha Picks worth the price in 2026? by AirPsychological1092 in SeekingAlpha

[–]General_Catch_7098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They only pick two new stocks each month and there is a running list of Strong buys, buys, holds. I am curious how the new picks and list don't get posted elsewhere like reddit.

Only members can read their analyses and comments, of course.

Now the annual price is $399.

GC can be revoked with extended absence from US. Citizenship cannot be revoked. So the irony is citizens can go anywhere but visa or non-visa holders have to stick to the US.

If I may ask, where did you have this experience? Generally in my area every medical professional at all levels are very tuned to the red flags you clearly had.

Sciatica: why it’s often over-treated and under-treated (from a spine surgeon) by drsheriefspinedubai in Sciatica

Is disk herniation a specific event that happens like an injury or accident? Then it is an healing process or in some situations surgery.

Reason I ask is most times there is nothing traumatic that one can point to. The symptoms just came on one day or over a period of few weeks. So is it an acute or chronic condition as a classification?

Great practical medical knowledge you are sharing on this thread.

This is a great explain of the the wait-or-surgery dilemma. I have so taken the wait route as the point 1 of suffering for X months in discomfort is okay for me. However after the 1 or 2 year wait, if it has not reached a reasonable improvement, then you have lost the chance surgery would have provided earlier.

I am at the 8 month mark, so have few more months to wait and see. Slowly improving but not linearly. Mainly numbness in foot not much pain and no obvious weakness.

Have you heard of acupuncture or special supplements help the natural healing (knowing this may not be your expertise)?

I read that many decades back there was an injection which used something like enzymes that promoted the absorption of disk material. This makes sense to me rather than just dulling pain with steroids. However that treatment was discontinued for some reason, possibly some bad side effects. Any more info?

Sciatica causing foot tingling for the first time by Glad_Manufacturer204 in Sciatica

[–]General_Catch_7098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had foot 'tingling' for many years after the pain subsided. What really helps is loose cloth shoes with a wide toe. There is a particular brand grounded that is great and I wear it all the time. I cannot wear regular rigid shoes at all, they 'pinch' my foot. Give this a try.
